If the Judio-Christian belief is that God is all knowing why would people pray?
God of course already knows and understand your plights, requests, and questions.
Why request something of God if an all knowing God would already know your request?
Please answer as I am trying to understand myself.
I believe currently that prayer is a way to delve deeper in ones self similar to meditation.
Just looking to expand my thoughts on religion.

I'm very much in agreement with where I think you're coming from. Don't let people talk you into religious practices just because it's the most popular way in the country you live.

Trust can be a prayer. And it's safe. If you pray for material things, who knows that's really the best thing in the long run. God knows the outcome of all possible scenerios, you don't.

It's like you know that some one needs money, that why they have a job, but to get the money, they have to do the work. If you want something, you have to ask. If you want something but don't ask, thinking that God will already know that you want it, won't get you what you desire. cause that is looked upon as just a thought, God won't take you serious unless you bring it up in prayer, the only way you talk directly to Him. It shows that you really do want it.

Being a Christian is all about obeying God. He told us that He wants to hear from us, we are told to pray so yes, I sure do believe in prayer. The fervant prayer of the righteous is heard by God. He answers prayer according to His will.

I believe in prayer..... True God knows and sees all. But He isn't going to but into our lives and force things on us.

I believe that prayer is something we need. It keeps us humble. It helps us to understand where we are in comparison to God. It helps Us to see our need of God. When we pray we are admitting we have to depend on God for our very existence in this life, both spiritually and physically.

Prayer also takes us to a communicating level with God, strengthens our faith in Him, as well as our trust. It is the only way we have to build a loving relationship with Him.

If you're a parent, you might find your answer to the above question already known.

We often know what our children need, but wait until they ask in order to teach them that asking for what they need is a good thing. Sometimes people refuse to ask for things as an act of defiance. Sometimes they refuse to ask because they are trying to coerce someone into doing something.

Asking is an act that conveys both recognition of need as well as humility. Neither of these are bad things.

All it can do is help the person praying to delude themself into thinking some all powerful thing is out there and going to help them. What they fail to relize is that everything that occurs is the result of cause and effect.

We make choices (cause) & things happen in our life (effect). If you do not like the effects that you get begging some fantasy man will do you no good. You must change the cause you set in motion to change the effect you get! Which means change your actions!

It is all up to you!

Prayer is conversation with God, talking to Him about our wants, needs, desires...same as you would any friend. A friend who loves and cares for us far more than we can even imagine.

He already knows what's on our hearts and minds, yes. But we still need that time of prayer, to draw closer to Him, converse with Him, come to know Him--and ourselves--better.

I have never heard voices. let me make this clear, BUT, this ONE time, I heard a voice while I prayed for my father., Go Rub His Feet, I did, my father opened his eyes,!! he had been in a coma from a stroke for nine days, had a resuscitator to make him breath, a lung infection, erratic eeg,he lived well for 11 more years, talked more then he used to and had a little bit of a problem with his memory.was it the devil, ?God,?a spirit? a dead relative? or who or what i don't know, perhaps my subconscious, being psychic.? I heard the voice in my head and I rubbed his feet, that's alI know,I assume .since I was praying to God .then it was god, thru his spirit.that told me that.

I have heard that a prayer goes a lot further than a dollar.

Prayer is for our sake, not God. God doesn't need our prayer, we need prayer to talk to God.
