that fortune tellers and mediums are one and the same
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av7JEirYiwUHYrpiFVxwKhRFLxV.?qid=20070207180013AAl9m22
yet i know no fortune teller who works with spirit
and no medium who tells fortunes
perhaps the wording at the time of the bible wrongly catagorised and condemed these people and practises ?

gwhiz that is the whole point though
mediumship does not use divination

2007-02-07 13:35:45 · update #2

mediumship is not soothsaying

2007-02-07 13:36:44 · update #3

angel
sadly i think there lies the problem also
a lot of people claim a lot of things to make what they do more exagerated
which also serves to give those working honestly a worse name than they already have

Perhaps the terminology we use nowadays is incorrect & spirits ARE revealing this information without the fortune tellers knowing it.
I'm not saying this is the case; just a possible scenario.

I would have thought most (demon-existence-aware) christians believe that the voices a medium allows to come through them are not actually the dead spirits that they appear to be. For instance, christians who teach about this supernatural stuff say there are spirits such as familiar spirits (they harass a family down the generations) that know details of their lives.
Then again if a fortune teller is working with the help of a spirit of divination, like the one in Phillippi in the Book of Acts, that would also be a spirit not of God.
So in both cases, from a christian point of view, the spirits would be regarded as evil spirits. They can really act the part though. Satan prefers deception to violence generally, as people can be spurred to get free if its violence he uses, whereas if they believe the appearance, then they don't fight it.
Most mediums and fortune tellers are probably faking it, as it would be a good way to make money.

They all seem a good bit of fun and for some people they feel a need as a means of help. We are warned for a good reason I suspect. May seem harmless but if you acknowledge the spirit world then the bible is warning us. It's the same 'darkness' behind mediums and fortune tellers. Best to treat lightly

You can approach this issue in two ways, simplistically and philosophically. In simple terms, the bible condemns these practices because it is not for mere mortals to see the future. However, consider this; (1) only God can know what lies ahead (2) the individual and God are a team (3) God's function is to help and support the individual (4) the individual's function is to trust in God. If you trust God, why do you wonder what lies ahead as whatever it is, together you will be fine. So relax, trust God, don't worry and don't waste money on soothsayers.

No the Bible is very clear,no form of divination is allowed and no one who practices such things can ever enter Heaven.there is even a whole story in Revaluation, where a man begs Jesus to save Him,Jesus replies: "Let your astrologer save You "

Actually, I know of several fortune tellers who do claim that they "tune in to the spirits" for their information.
Of course, unlike mediums, they are not talking about the spirits of the dead....

Don't worry about what other think, I know it hurts sometimes, they are judgmental, some are like that. All religions, groups should not be judged as who they are, but as individuals within that group, religion, or whatever category.

I like you as you are and who you are, you wouldn't be you, if someone came alone and changed you. We all have free will, to be who we are, and if we allow God to, God would use you for his purposes in that type way to move someone. God would use you no matter who you are if and only if you allow him to. because you have free will.
You are a good person, and you have a good heart, and that's what matters to God the most, not what religion you are:)

Do you need a hug~(((:)))~

a lot of the wording has been confused in translation, or so i have read. i think Christians may just group them together because they don't believe in either

I am christian and my consensus is: live and let live. If others want to do tarot readings or crystal ball nonsense then its up to them, so long no one is hurting anyone, who cares
