I want a cat that will lay down with me and comfort me when I'm feeling down. I don't want it to aggravate me either like my sister's cat does by nibbling my toes and refusing to leave, but not necessarily be aloof and independent. My mom is concerned about shedding, and I've read that both breeds shed relatively little. I'm more concerned about the personality of the cat itself. What are each like? Any habits or quirks of your precious kitties will be appreciated if shared. ^_^

I would also think about the sex you want. Male cats tend to be more affectionate than females. Sounds like you would be better suited to a female.

Unfortunately I do not know a great deal about the two breeds you are choosing between, I am a breeder of Savannah Cats, Cheetoh Cats, And Ocicats !!

Good luck and do your research on the breeder as well.

I have a Devon Rex and I absolutely adore him. Having grown up with Siamese cats I was expecting to have a nice quiet little cat that would snuggle into me at night. Surprise, surprise, Devon Rex's are personality cats too! He's very talkative and can be very mischievous. I wouldn't suggest a Rex if you prefer to have only one cat. they can become very dependent on you and get lonely without someone to be cheeky with. Morpheus is always bouncing around the house exploring and playing with his brother Neo, a Siamese.

My Morpheus loves cuddles and his huge ears to be scratched. He loves mootching my partner's stubble when he gets home after a long day and goes bananas over his harness and lead (he loves going for walks outside on his lead). He will often go and get his lead and harness and drag it around the house until I decide to take him outside.

Interestingly, devon rexs are warmer than normal cats and feel like velvet when you pat them. You can also rub their fur the wrong way and they love it. Excellent hot water bottles.

On the negative, they LOVE their food. You have to be really strict with their diets and don't allow them to free feed on dry food. They will very quickly get overweight. ohh..... and they will try to get into the bin, cupboard, boxes, shopping bags and on the table to hunt for food which can be annoying. - water squirter is a necessity.

My personal preference is rag doll cats. They are soooo adorable, so gentle and just lie there without moving. You've got to love them:)
