He shouldn't be hanged because he deserves the firing squad.

Personally, I think the death penalty shows only our acceptance of barbaric treatment of criminals. True, such people need to be removed from society, or somehow prevented from repeating their acts.
Life in prison is not a form of leniency. It's actually a death sentence, wherein the person is removed from society, awaiting death, but at the hands of time, rather than the hands of man.
Killing, in punishment for killing shows only that killing is in some way acceptable. Killing someone who has committed horrible crimes removes the possibility of learning from such people and finding out how and why they do such acts. Why not instead, learn from them in an attempt to change the things that cause such behavior?

"Do not be so quick to deal out death in judgement, even the very wise cannot see all ends." - Gandalf (LOTR-FOTR)
All people have a right to live, and although this man's deeds denied others aren't we just as bad if we deny him his in vengeance. I cannot see how any person is to learn the lessons life has in store for them if they have their life taken from them, and it would seem to me that a soul such as Mohd Afzal would have more to learn than others, yes?
I don't think there is a 'right' answer to this question, per se, I think it depends upon your views on the sanctity of life, even that of killers.

There will be no rewards for hanging in the only place they count. Not in your time or mine--but war will cease to be--not however until it becomes so bad, the evil plays itself out.
Hanging does not make a wrong thing become a right thing.

Your right they should, in response to one if the other posters, if we hang him, thats one less terrorist on our hands, one less person who wants to harm and kill us.
Killing him does not make a right, but it prevents another wrong from occurring, rehab doesn't solve our problem, and rehab wont fix terrorism.
