I am a high school runner. I run the half mile and mile. I am looking at getting my first pair of spikes. I am looking at Asics and Nike right now. (My feet are still growing.)

Get Standard crosscountry spikes (6 spikes). Asics are excellent spikes but Nikes arent that bad either. Go to a store and buy them because diffrent spikes fit diffrently.

I must admit I have an asics bias. I reccommend the Japan Thunder or Turbo Ghost. If you want to go with a slightly cheaper pair then you could find some Asics Hyper MDs for like $35. Honestly the shoe isn't going to make a huge difference, and unless you are highly competitive just go with whatever feels best and looks cool. I suggest making sure that they spikes either have D (distance) or MD (middle distance) in the name to make sure they fit your needs. With pretty much whatever shoes you buy how long they last just depends on how well you take care of them. Only wearing them on the track will really expand the lifetime of your shoes.

If you're going to run CC, I'd look for an outdoor long distance pair with different spikes for dirt and rubber, if you're only going to run on rubber, anything really works, I had a nice pair of Adidas which would stretch with your feet for about $50. Head to your local store and just find a pair that feel right on your feet.
