If you are already feeling ill, and it is actually the flu- getting a flu shot is pointless, it's too late. There is no magic potion to prevent you getting sick once the process has started, nothing that will make it go away. You have to allow your body to do what it does best, and allow it time to do that. If you are feeling tired, then go to bed and rest. Drink plenty of liquids, treat the symptoms as you need to in order to be comfortable, eat nutritious foods, and stay away from other people. That's the best and only prescription that works. Your body is quite capable of doing the rest, you just have to let it do it.

Try regular over the counter medication. Robitussin, Cough Drops, Advil, Tylenol, or any cold and flu medication should work. But if you get a flu shot or antibiotics, then you'll feel better faster.

Well, take a day off and lay on the couch and read and sleep and drink lots of water. I did this before I went on a trip, and the next day I was fine!!! Or, take a Nyquil. They really work for me, but everyone's different. It's worth a try!!! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

There is the over the counter "Zycam" which claims to shorten the flu.
If that doesn't work, then treat the symptons. If its chest congestion than take guafenesin, for nasal congestion take pseudo-ephedrine. Hope you feel better soon, I just got over it and it isnt fun!

WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!
Don't cough into your hands either. cough into the inside of your elbow.
WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!
Use some over the counter stuff that stops colds and flu--they do help the severity. Airborne actually works really well.
Some good old fashioned vitamin C (aka orange juice)
Get lots of sleep, and stay hydrated to keep your immune system up.
WASH YOUR HANDS!!!

Eat health and fresh air. Chicken soup does help here too. Keep active. If you sit around constantly inside, you will get it. What I suggest will help....it is a virus and you want your antibodies healthy fighting off the bugs.
