None of mine like to eat them but 2 of them love to play with them! It makes a big mess on the kitchen floor but it's fun to watch.
I've had dogs in the past or known of dogs that absolutely loved ice cubes.
If your dog does, it's good. They are a great "treat" that won't make him fat!

This is a treat used for very old dogs. I would take the dog
to a kennel and have him(her) work out with the proper buddy.
When a habit forms like this, the problem can happen. That is
the dog gets embarrased. This is known as low tolerance. A
spaniel is one of the older and finer dogs often kept for a pet
on large animal farms. Spaniels have a wonderful personality
I say keep it active, and use some tender vitteles for treats.

As soon as our poodle hears the sound of the ice maker running, she will come and stand in fron to f the refrigerator and wait for an ice cube to fall. She will promptly pick it up in her teeth, take off under the dining room table with it and start crunching away!

My dobermans love ice cubes. One of the females can work the ice dispenser on the fridge!
We're in Florida, and during the summer, I mix chicken broth with water and make them ice cube treats.

I have two Siberian Huskies - one of them loves licking ice cubes, the other doesn't and won't go near the water bowl until the ice melts. Just one of those things I guess.

Sure is! Not too often though! It's fun to float one in the water bowl...especially in the summer. Take a bag of cubes to the park with you...and your pup will have a cool drink and not get dehydrated. Remember that dogs can crack bone! Have fun! Hugs, Gina C.

Yes, this is normal but be careful to try to use softer ice -- possible allow it to melt a little before giving -- as it is possible, depending on your dog's dental strength & health, for a tooth to break or become damaged if the ice is too hard.

my shih tzu loves ice cubes too! probably just the texture, or the fact of how cold they are. my dog actually will not drink out of her water bowl unless there is an ice cube in it (yeah, she is spoiled)..
a dog's body temp is alot higher than a human's, so the cold from the ice is like a breath of fresh air for them i guess.. just watch so she doesnt choke!

I have Cavaliers too. They love ice. In fact they love everything. My female has never turned down anything I have ever given her, including wasabi and onions. Try putting a little beef buillion broth in the water when you freeze them for a nice summer time treat.

Yes that is normal. I had a Dobie that loved ice. When I would spell I-C-E he would actually go and nose the freezer door. He is now probably looking for some at Rainbow Bridge.
