My min pin Ruby truly believes she is a lil human child. She has more clothes (literally) than I do and picks them out of a bottom drawer. She thinks she has to be dressed to go anywhere usually unless its hot out - then wants to wear nothing LOL. Ruby sleeps in bed under my arm and insists on being under the blanket, sometimes with her head on the pillow. She also tries to "talk" when spoken to and has a vocabulary bigger than most toddlers haha. Ruby's so spoiled.. :)

i no longer have him but the cross bred lab greyhound i had for 10 years didn't just think he was human he knew it. and he was smarter then most of the people around him, he slept in my water bed just like a human, and watched TV, and chose what music he wanted to hear. he wasn't spoiled he was loved.

You've had this dog for a year. You could have and should have put a small sum of money away each week to pay for his badly needed dental treatment. I'm sorry to say he won't live a long healthy life unless you have his teeth attended to. He probably already has painful abscessed teeth which is why he can't eat most food. An abscess is an infection and this infection will become systemic and cause heart disease that will kill the dog. It's unlikely a vet can see an abscess just by looking in the dog's mouth. Abscesses form at the root of the teeth between the teeth roots and the jaw bone. Why did you waste all that money on various bags of dog food when it could have gone towards the cost of his dental treatment. Do you really think the diet this dog lives on, i.e. sandwiches is providing the nutritional needs of a dog? It is far from it. He can't enjoy life if he is in constant pain from neglected, rotting teeth, the same as you wouldn't enjoy life if it pained you so much that you couldn't eat a suitable diet and could only manage very soft food. He is not eating a suitable canine diet because he mouth is too painful to eat so he's not getting the necessary nutrition a dog needs. I can see from the way you posted that you don't want to hear this but this dog is not spoiled if you can't take care of his serious health issue that's causing him pain and will kill him. All the other things you mentioned you do are not spoiling the dog, they're not even good for his health. They're are simply satisfying your needs and not your dogs needs. Babying a dog is not good for any dog. Dogs deserve to be respected for being dogs they are. Let me ask you this. If you had a child with a mouthfull of painful rotten teeth that prevented the child from eating decent nutritional food necessary for development and health what would you do? If you neglected to have that childs teeth treated you would have child protection services after you. That could not be considered as spoiling a child under any circumstances. The same goes for the dog. Please rethink your attitude towards this dog and do for him what he needs to be done instead of using him to fulil your needs. It isn't fair to him to suffer pain because that's what you're doing to him.

And that is exactly what the problem is today. People treaating their dogs like humans instead of dogs. And then those same people wonder why their dogs treat then like crap. These people think that they are doing their dogs a favor by treating them this way, except they are making their dog's lives miserable. A dog is a dog, an animal, not a human, and to treat it like a human is disrespectful to it, just like it is disrespectful to treat a human like a dog. There is a HUGE difference between a human and a dog, you need to realize that. People wear clothes, dogs wear fur. People eat at the table out of dishes, dogs eat after the humans in a dog bowl on the floor. Furniture, beds included are for humans not for dogs, unless you want to elevate your dog to human status and put your self down to the position of a dog. When are you going to realize that all the crap you are doing for your dog is really for you. The dog does not give a damn about designer anything, YOU DO. The dog does not even recognize you as a human, he thinks that you are a funny looking dog. And he will assert his dominance over your stupidity, sooner or later in a way you will recognize, by biting you. Then you wil be like all the others that come here and ask how to stop that same dog from destroying your house, biting you and the kids and using your house and furniture as his personal toilet. Realize that dogs live and die by one rule in their lives, PACK DRIVE/INSTINCT. That is it, period. Respect your dog by treating it like a dog.

Whenever I go to the Lucky Seven for
ice cream, Tobi immediately leaps into
the car.
One wag is vanilla. two wags for chocolate.
Tobi prefers chocolate, but I've never seen
her turn down vanilla.
When she finishes licking the ice cream, she
chews on the cone, then laps the car hop in
the face.
Then we go home, do the crossword puzzle
and watch Wheel Of Fortune.
Am I making this up?
Well, maybe just a bit. But she does enjoy
the ride.
Human enough ?

that is so cute!
my two dogs think they are human...my dog ally can eat off a fork and prefers to have her food on a plate rather than her doggy bowl.
my other dog Kona sleeps on my bed ( she is a newfoundlander) and sleeps on her back with a blankie over top of her and her head on my pillow.
when they try to eat off the kitchen table with us that is where i draw the line...

Sometimes I suspect these dogs don't really think they're human. They just want you to think that they think they're human. They know how to act to get all the "perks" and also please their owner.
