I can't stand bums. I don't give them anything. Hehe. During the Olympics here in Utah, the cops rounded up all the bums, put them on buses and took them out to the middle of the desert and dropped them off. They figured it would take a few days to get back to town. By then the Olympics would be well underway and they wouldn't bother many people.

Yes you could get in trouble for this type of behavior. Simply because he's homeless doesn't mean he's not a human being. There is a very good chance alcohol may have placed him in the situation he currently lives. Addiction to alcohol is very serious and can ruin lives - This person has no home and you want to hit him because you gave him your money and he bought alcohol? Seems rather insensitive. In the future I would buy him a sandwich or food rather than giving him your money. But striking this person is both illegal and plain wrong.

if you were caught, you would get in trouble...it's against the law to physically harm anyone, unless it's in self-defense...in this case, he lied to you....most bums don't have much going for them, and he/she uses your money to purchase alcohol instead of food, that's their problem not yours. If i was a bum, it'd be difficult for me to decide b/t a 40oz and food.

Yes, you could be charged with assault. I once carried around gift cards for all the local grocery stores. Its amazing how many 'needy' people don't want them, even when they are begging within sight of the store.

Yes, why would you not? Just learn from it, and don't give bums money. Offer them food instead. Watch them turn it down. Keep your money, its simple.

When you give a gift to someone, it is theirs to do whatever they want with it. If you want your monetary gift to be spent in one certain way, then give a gift card to a particular place. Otherwise, don't part with your money.
