I had a non-traditional wedding. My grandmother had passed 1 year prior and she was an important figure in my life. She had a 56 acre property that had to be sold upon her death, so I had my wedding on her property before the land changed hands at a place that really had deep meaning to me. It was a beautiful wedding and a great memory!

We decided to have a very small wedding on Mackinac Island. It was only 30 people altogether, incl. the wedding party.
I rode to the hotel where we got married at in a white horse drawn carriage with my dad.
The ceremony was on a beautiful flower filled veranda with a beautiful view of Lake Superior.
After the quick Christian ceremony my husband and I took an hour long tour of the island in the same white horse & carriage. We stopped to take pics and we shared a bottle of some very good Champagne.

I know of someone who-instead of tradiitonal colors, gowns, tuxes, etc., wore cowboy outfits for theirs. For your wedding, you can have it as small as you want. I almost eloped. But it was close enough to the wedding date-I went thru with the wedding as planned. Elopement-even in Nevada-I believe is still a three day waiting time for a marriage license.

My non-traditional wedding really took the cake. We woke up one Friday morning got dressed in our favorite Jeans, yes jeans, and drove down to the courts and got married by a deputy clerk. We love each other, we are very committed to each other but we're aren't frilly.
Most of our friends and family are ready to kill us because they missed out on all the extravagance of the tradition.

I hosted my sister's wedding in our backyard. Rented a tent and we had a barbeque type buffet. the family pitched in with the food and drinks. the Theme was sand and seashells. Her cake was kind of like waves hitting sand and it was covered with purple seahorses and pink starfish made out of chocolate. I had seashell leis for all the guest and bought tiny starfish and sandollars online and sprinkled those on the tables as confetti. They wore linen tops an khaki bottoms and sandals. It was labor day so the BBQ thing wasn't too tacky.

i'm having a medieval/pagan-sih handfasting for my wedding. i really like it, because i can personalize our ceremony a lot more than with other traditional ones. we're getting married out side (maybe at a state park we love to go to...it's really pretty...waterfalls and old stone bridges!! i'd be all set on decorating!) and hopefully everyone atending will come in medieval clothing!! i'm even making some traditional welsh, irish and english dishes from medieval recipes for the reception!! we love all things medieval (he's going to college for medieval history...me for costume design) and i think having our ceremony this way really refelects who we are and what we believe. i love it and wouldn't change it for the world!!! not even to have a castle for it!!! ;)

There are wedding ceremony chapels in all places. seem interior the yellow pages. We stumbled on one close to the bottom and has a non classic , non denominational service at a chapel on the sea coast and had our wedding ceremony reception at a close-by mom and pa mexican resturant. you are able to also discover an section like that close to the position you stay or in basic terms elope and flow someplace like niagra falls of las vegas for a non denominational quickie wedding ceremony.

I'm not married (yet) but we've been together 9 years and have decided that if we do get married it will be something very different. Instead of being formal, traditional, predictable it would be very informal, exciting and adventurous.
