it can mean a variety of things: a very private person, a person with no spouse, children, or significant other to show off... a person without a good relationship with family...

I think some people prefer to keep their workplace very separate from their personal life. Perhaps that's the case for this person.

it means no personal or family pictures in your office area -- no pics of your mom, dad, brother, sister, child, husband, wife, dog, cat -- nothing personal.
they may let you have a pic of a flower or sunset or something it sounds like.

Well it depends on what type of family.
If he/she is married and there is no pictures then that is sort of weird, but maybe they just havent gotten any up yet!

it doesn't mean anything,
but it could mean a lot of things.
people could assume that this person is emotionally detached from their family, or they are just to professional for such things.
but that's what i COULD mean, not necessarily what it DOES.
