No, and if you believe that you have no idea what it means to be a civilian contractor. Most of them actually work on military bases on military projects. My brother is a civilian contractor (working in both Iraq and Afghanistan) and does satellite communications. He sets up & provides tech support and trains military personnel on how to use communication equipment so they can communicate between bases and know what the heck is going on over there so they don't get blown up.

BTW, he is also Air National Guard and spends all of his vacation time making up the guard duty he missed while he was working for the military in the middle east. He may be a civilian contractor at the moment but he was trained for this job through the military. Most of those civilian contractors are serving their country just as much as enlisted men. Please remember that of all the contractors over there, very few percentage-wise work for Haliburton. Most of them are like my brother offering much needed support services in areas where the military needs personnel with advanced training in specific areas that the average 20-year-old kid fresh out of boot camp doesn't have.

They are contractors providing services.
If they ain't shooting at somebody then they are not mercenaries.
If they are contracted for security pruposes then they are security.
Is there something extra special evil about the word mercenary?
