Because no matter what your answer, Christians will say, "I don't care because I believe in Jesus.", and atheists will say, "it doesn't matter, show me the evidence."
Now do you see why the argument is pointless?

The argument is not pointless, because burden of evidence is at issue. Until the claim that God exists is supported by evidence, atheists will remain justified in disbelieving that claim. They don't have to prove non-existence.

The arguement isn't pointless when it comes to teaching creation in public schools as science.
Further, it is a logical fallacy to claim something exists because you can't prove that it doesn't. I can't prove that fuzzy yellow bunnies aren't at the center of a black hole, that doesn't mean that there are.

i wouldnt say so. in the end it forces those with amazing claims to either put up their equally amazing evidence or shut up.
