There is so many excuses for not fixing a problem. Landfills are a big problem for the environment and since ALL the trash can be processed(at a profit mine you)into useful raw material it seems very bad management not to replace the landfill. Bad engineering made the landfill and good engineering can develop a simple process to fix this ugly blight on the planet. Its not one place or state but every state all over the world. Trash has real value if it is processed efficiently. I know-it can't be done, right?

Landfills arn't so ugly once they've been capped and developed for realestate - so I'm not sure what your concern is with them.

Climate Change is flavour of the month with environmentalists. I'm concerned about the environment, but I don't believe you can sum up the worlds environmental issues in two words. You know sequesting combustable material below ground tends to reduce CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere.

The Japanese came up with an idea years ago that I thought was interesting. They would take a big machine that would squeeze grabage into intensely compressed cubes and then they would be coated with a thick tar. The cubes would then be used to fill in roads or something. It seemed like a good idea to me at the time!
