Absolutely, positively, for sure, yes. Don't ever give any size dog whether it is a baby or full grown dog a splintered bone, chicken bones or pork chop bones. They can not only puncture the stomach tissue, intestines, throat or gums and mouth. They can also cause the dog to choke and die. Hope this helps.

What kind of bone are you feeding the dog? I'd stick only to rawhide chewies and not feed anything that splinters. Splinters can cause serious damage to the throat and stomach. Also, I'd recommend no bones from steak, chicken, etc. Stick to rawhide and you can't go wrong.

I am presuming this bone is cooked?
Cooked bones should not be given to dogs, they tend to splinter on breaking and are dangerous to swallow. Rare to find a shin bone or any meat bone from a butcher that is splintered whilst it may be safer i would still not give it

Any bone that splinters should be taken away from your pet. It can cause numerous problems, the most serious of which is the potential for it to puncture her intestines.
Please only give raw marrow bones (with most of the marrow scraped out - it can be too rich and cause diarrhea) to your dog to chew on. Never give a dog of any age any cooked bones.
Monitor her for normal behaviour, appetite and bowel movements. If there is anything suspicious, please seek veterinary care immediately.
Good luck!

I have heard it is. The splinters get caught in the dogs throat and they can die. I think they only splinter if they are real bones though. My parents would never let me feed our dog real bones because they were afraid that the dog would die or get it stuck in their throat.

ABSOLUTELY..Throw those bones away. Years ago, we used to breed Wiemaraners. We kept a male pup. He got hold of a pork chop bone, ate it, and it splinter off inside of him. Yes, ALL bones are harmful. Needless to say our little pup choked on it, and never made it to be a BIG DOG, I have, or will never give bones to my dogs, big or little. You can always by a chew bone from your local pet store, they are safer, and you won't have to go through what I did.
