Depends on the punk look your into. I think the late seventies spiked hair look is pretty tame by todays standards. If you look like Johney Rotton or Syd Vicous I think thats fine.
Try to keep yourself and body clean. I know when I was going to high school there were a lot of filthy smelly punks. I know lots of girls would like the spiked up geled look. I would go easy of things like mohawks and tatooes. i would avoid wearing any insignia that could be considedered offensive like a Swastika.

So if you dont know than make your move. When I was in high school I was in love with this a guy who was a punk and I was more preppy. I didnt think that things would go anywhere because we we so different. Well one thing led to another and we had hit it off and it was definatly a memorable 5 years. You never know until you try...
