Not in Texas. Last report I read showed that TX prisons needed nearly 3000 employees. Guess that stems from our housing 151K + inmates. Obviously each prison has its own guidelines, and I assumed you didn't mean: "Hey, I just made parole. Is it difficult to get hired at a prison?"
Seriously though, I don't believe its that hard if you can pass a background check. Leahanna is wrong as far as I can tell. Most prisons just require you to be a HS graduate, not have a college degree.

To get hired into a prison facility you will need a degree in law enforcement or criminal justice, academy experience, pass a qualifying written exam and an MCOLES passing grade. Best to look into a local college or university that has these courses to offer.

There are many jobs offered within the prison system
only a part of the listings are ones that you need law enforcement training---- check with your local employment office -- they usually have an individual who specializes within this area and knows all of the jobs offered--- the qualifications that they are looking for--- and if there are job openings within those fields presently !!
Good luck to you---- you may need it !!!

Unfortuneatly they do need employees. Is it easy to get a job there, yes. But why do you want to work with the dregs of society, trying to kill you, spit and through DNA at you on a daily basis? Watch the discovery or A&E for those programs. Good Luck

its kinda difficult to get hired there is a process and a background check but they are in serious need of employees and they pay pretty well. it is challenging work and the actual requirements vary state to state. it can be pretty rewarding work.

I can't think of worse job. The prisoners throw feces and urine on you, spit on your and will try to assault you if they can. But yes, most prisons do need guards. Go to your states web site and put in Deparment of Corrections and see what it takes to become a prison guard. Good Luck, you will need it.

It's not difficult. It seems like you initial question is different though. My answer to that one is "no. Put them all in a big building and let them kill each other".
