I've got to tell you that we women do have a tendency to try to change our mates- but it is a bad idea, and never works. It just creates resentment between the two people. You will probably never find anyone who you think is perfect (if you do, they are probably scamming or manipulating you) so you have to decide what you can live with and what you can't. You asked him a question, and he told you the truth- so why do you say you can't trust him? Did you want him to lie? Are you trying to manipulate him? Examine your own actions, and you might see that you hve been trying to change him, and that is not fair, and will not work. Accept him as he is, or move on.

wonder why he thought you were trying to change him? can you think of what you may have said or did? i'd talk to him and tell him you want to sort out this issue. you've been friends for so long that it would be sad if one little issue ruined the friendship.

tell him you want to talk with him and work things out and try to continue what has been an awesome friendship so far..
