Because in Hebrew he was called Yeshua, which became the Greek Yisous in the Gospel which became Jesus in Latin. Its just like God has a lot of different names lik Dios, Theos and Allah, and that what ARabic speaking Christians call him, even Catholics

I would imagine,just lost in translation.Emanual means God with us.If A angel told me name my Son Emanuel I would.I am sure

Jesus is the Greek form of His Hebrew name which is Yeshua. Yeshua in Hebrew means 'salvation'.

It's Emanuel (and it means'God with us'), and it's a title that he was bestowed in the older manuscripts. It's the writers way of connecting him to the earlier prophets writtings. Basically a way to say that he is the one true king that was spoken of.
