I recently found out a neighbor of mine died in his home. The mail began piling up and the postman put things together. The man was discovered dead but a little over a week had passed. I’m told his dog ate a good portion of the deceased’s calf & hamstring during this time. Is this normal? Would a dog actually begin eating a human after such a short time? I was considering adopting this dog until I heard this story. If I were to adopt the dog, would he now try to eat parts of my body while I’m sleeping?

If you blank your dog and the dog is left alone and need of some attention ie walks and affection this can happen. It happened 2 my bros friend. Sadly the dog ate his face. rip

Highly doubt the dog will make a midnight snack of your leg. The body after just 24 hours of death begin to coagulate the blood and rot. The stench it gives off is putrid to us but quite nice to animals. It was just the dogs instinct to survive because it probably didn't have any food to eat.

I have heard of this happening before, too. But I don't know if it is true. I would not consider adopting the animal only because it has suffered a trauma and I have children..... But I would assume that the animal is not going to be in the habit of eating people who are alive.

I dunno if it's normal. But you have to think the dog had gone without food for a week and is a carnivore. I wouldn't adopt the damn thing though. lol
