By The Way, Sorry about spelling. Yahoo doesn't allow spell-check for details in questions, tried it in my microsoft office (spell-check) and the auto-correct file wasn't properly installed

The First Dargon,

He has never hurt another person, although he has punched and broke the walls certain times.

If he has been saying this stuff for years, but never acted violently, his dad is probably not in any danger.
It does suggest that he has some emotional and/or character problems, and needs help.
If he has been violent before, even if it was not against his dad, I would say the situation is more serious.
It's better to err on the side of safety. I talked to a man whose friend kept telling him he was going to kill the couple he lived with. He didn't believe it. Then one night the guy did kill the couple and then himself. The friend was distraught; if he had paid attention, 3 people could still be alive.

I have had the same experience as Answer 1. A neighbor who lived with her sister and brother in law, threatened to take a gun and shoot her brother in law. Later in the day, she took a gun from my grandfather's closet and went and followed through on the threat. She went to prison and her BIL was dead.
No one wants to believe someone else when they make threats like this because we can't comprehend anyone being serious about it. It is better to err on the side of safety. Let someone know what is happening. It is against the law to make threats like that.
