Hot or cold, with the car running or not, a dog should never be left in a car. It's illegal in many states to leave animals in cars. It's also cruel. I would report all of the information about that car, the cars owner, how long the dog was inside the car, etc. to your local animal control/humane society. They have officers that investigate reports like this. It's animal cruelty. I'm sure some other family would love to adopt the dog this guy is neglecting.

Call your local police station and tell the person who answers about the situation. They might transfer you to animal control and you can report it to them. Then, they'll send a car over and investigate. 911 is typically for life-threatening human emergencies and the police usually respond to animal calls in a timely manner. Good of you to look out for the dog. Best of luck.

cold or hot weather an animal should not be left that long, yes this is animal cruelty.some one should call the police ,the owner should be done the same way as the dog and see how it is to go without water or to the bathroom or stay in one place that long,an animal depends on its owner to take care of it ,this one should have the dog took from them.

This definitely could be cruelty--it depends on many factors. That is up to the authorities to determine. You definitely should contact the authorities. DO NOT CALL 911! Call the police directly, or call animal control. (Not all cities have an animal control division that can respond.)

If it is cold like it is here in New Jersey then it is definitely animal cruelty.

Its been in the car for what almost 6 hours. Does it have water? Is a window cracked?

Call your local animal control ASAP! Write down the license plat number and tell them all the details.

Just for now go to the car and check up on it and in case it looks hungry of thirsty call your sister and tell her.(ask if she can come home earlier) Then if the dog is still there then tell her to call the police and tell them that there has been stuck in a car for about 7 hours. see what happens. Good luck and thanks for asking!

Call the authorities and have them check the situation out. If in doubt about something like this, think about the good of the animal.

Either call the police or go with your sister (not alone) to the place where you saw him go to and knock on the door and say- Did you happen to forget that you left your dog in your car?? If he gets smart with you just walk away and say Just trying to help! He probably has it in the car for it to protect the car and whatever he may have inside of the car!! Sterio and drugs probably!

What is the temperature???? In the dead of winter, no, it would not be animal cruelty any more than being in a crate for 6 hours at night would be.
If it is summer and the temp is 100 degrees, then of course it is animal cruelty.
