Everyone says that chocolate makes you feel better when you are sad but what other foods make you feel better when your sad?

Well essentially what you're asking is which foods release endorphins which will cause you to feel happier. Each person is different and each person's body will react differently to different foods. Chocolate is thought to release endorphins, that's why you often see the cliche in movies or tv where someone feels sad and they eat chocolate or chocolate ice cream, cause it releases endorphins and actually does make you feel better. Endorphins will never solve the problem that might be making you sad but you'll feel a little better.

In fact endorphins make you feel so good that one of the main causes to obesity is endorphin addiction. The body feels so good when it eats that it wants to eat ALL the time... The most common foods for endorphin release are chocolate and believe it or no chili peppers because of the burning sensation your body feels (pain also releases endorphins). Also strenuous exercise, exposure to ultraviolet light, massage therapy, and acupuncture can also activate endorphin production. That's why after a long workout you have a lot of energy and are in a better mood, or that you've been in the sun all day and feel great...

As far as food the two main ones out there are chocolate and chilli peppers...

Plain ole' Chicken Noodle soup with grilled Cheese works well. Warm comfort foods. Chocolate chip cookies work too!

None, but lots of them help me ignore the sadness temporarily. Not a good way to deal with sadness for me.

I always eat a banana or two when I need to feel better. There is a chemical in them that aids in releasing serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is what makes you happy! Plus its very high in vitamins and nutrience. :)

Mac and cheese......also, crunching raw vegetables has a kind of hypnotic, relaxing effect.
