No problem. Just don't tell your grand parents

Short term...I'd say go have fun. Life is too short not to enjoy it doing what other people tell you to. You don't even know if she will say yes yet.

Thinking longer term, if your childhood sweetheart becomes the love of your life, you have got some tougher issues to face like what religon the raise your kids under.

Kids are obviously years away, but in the meanwhile you have to deal with potentially pain in the butt parents who have their own agendas. It is rare that I tell people to ignore parents, but in this case smile, be polite and make up your own minds.

Look ultimately ITS YOUR LIFE....enjoy it to the max.

This is just my opinion, but I feel that religion and feelings don't need to get in the way of one another. If you like someone then go for it, because it takes many different ideas to make the world interesting.
Also, we you fall in love and want to be with someone theres no room for external boundaries...its about you and her and thats it!

No you can't (unless they are Jewish by birth and then became Christian in practice, for example). You could find many sitest that discuss this based on the Bible (Deuteronomy) itself. I've included such site below.
