I mean, can they start off solid white, then develop color points over a period of time? Does it work that way?

Absolutely they will keep changing until they are 8 or 9 sometimes later, First they turn form almost white to a very dark brown, than they start to lighten up again.

Yep...I have a siamese and she was very white when she was a kitten and now at 4 years old shes dark beige/brown...and the color on her face, legs and tail spread

i got my applehead Siamese cat when he was about four months old. Then his body was all white and face, paws and tail were black. When he was six months old he still looked like that (I have pictures from Christmas). I don't remember exactly when his body got darker and became the beautiful sable brown that seal points have.

Yes infinity!!! I have two Siamese; Ginger and Snap. We got them when they were 6 weeks and pure white. Now they are almost solid black! Trust me, it totally works that way!!!!!

mine didnt stop getting color til about 3 or 4 years old

yeah, when they r first born they r really light in color but when they get older they become darker, the older they r the darker they get
