What does your question prove? Your words and your religions words are kind but the actions of some Muslims have been harsh and hateful.
Words versus actions is an easy choice for me.

The opening statement implies that it is OK to murder, as long as it is in retaliation. The second, "except for just cause". The third, obviously there is A LOT of compulsion in this religion. Christians were done murdering when the Crusades ended (many, MANY moons ago), hopefully realizing that to spread the word of the LOVING God did not mean killing those who oppose or worship differently. Some, not all, Muslims still live in this mindset. Killing is OK, our book says so. Combine with compulsion...they will rationalize, and they do, the act of killing. Afghanistan was going to execute the man who changed faiths from Islam to Christianity BASED ON ISLAMIC LAW.

Islam is not coincident with terrorism.
But there are those who practice terrorism and who claim to be following Islam. We've just had film of one at a London mosque saying that any Moslem in the British Army should be beheaded.

As for ""Let There Be No Compulsion in Religion." I would find it much easier to believe that if it worked both ways, but having researched I do find fear, and punishment, and even worse for those who dare to leave Islam.
The site below doesn't appear in other respects to be an extreme Islamic site, but it features argument for the death penalty for apostasy quite openly:
" the Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them... agree that apostates must be executed."

Let peaceful Islam declare the extremists un-Islamic, and exiles from the Umma. Otherwise their character and behaviour, unrejected, will taint the whole of Islam through that very channel of "unity."

When Muslims do these things (listed below) then I will believe Islam is not a terrorist religion...,

1. ALL Muslims merge and kill all those who call themselves Muslim who are killing innocent civilian Muslims in Iraq and innocent civilian Americans who are there to help the Iraqi/Muslim people. Its beyond an insult to kill those who are helping the poor.

2. ALL Muslims stand up and publicly denounce all the wicked, murderous deeds of the Terrorists. So far I have only seen Americanized Muslims say anything and even then not many. Middle East Muslims are on video and film chanting "Death to America, Death to Israel" also they chant Death to Jews and Death to Christians.., which in itself is terrorism. Americans have not rallied to hold mass demonstrations against the Middle East or Muslims.

3. Throw the Imams and Mullahs into the street and humiliate those evil men who tell Muslims to kill Jews, to kill Christians and to kill Americans.

If you want people to respect you - you have to stand for what is right, and respect those around you. You don't earn respect by silently or publicly supporting terrorists. When you are silent then you support them.

I never thought that Islam itself was terrorism. I just think that many terrorists are Islamic extremists. I have an Islamic co-worker and we talk religion frequently. We have agreed that belief in God and love of God is something we share. But not all of our co-religionists agree. Fundamental Christians have said some very ugly things. However, they aren't currently engaging in terrorist activities.

Like I said, the Islamists believe FIRMLY they are justified in
their actions.

While there a MANY Muslims who cite the passages you do, the terrorists manage to find ways to justify and they do it with the Quran.

Feel free to read the following books which discuss this question extensively:
The Trouble with Islam Today
The Osama Bin Laden I know.

and these

Oh you who believe!
Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God,
even against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin,
and whether it be against rich or poor,
for God can best protect both.
Follow not the cravings of your hearts, lest you swerve,
and if you distort justice or decline to do justice,
verily God is well acquainted with all that you do.
Qur'an 4:135

"God commands justice, the doing of the good, and liberality to kith and kin. He
forbids all shameful deeds, injustice and rebellion. Thus does he instruct you, that you may receive admonition." 16:90

The recompense for an injury
is an injury equal thereto (in degree),
but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation,
his reward is due from God,
for God loves not those who do wrong.
But indeed, if any do help and defend themselves
after a wrong done to them,
against such there is no cause of blame.
The blame is only against those who oppress men
with wrongdoing and insolently transgress
beyond bounds through the land,
defying right and justice.
For such there will be a penalty grievous (in the Hereafter).
But indeed, if any show patience and forgive,
that would truly be an affair of great resolution.
Qur'an 42:40-43

Goodness and evil are not equal.
Repel evil with what is better.
Then that person with whom there was hatred,
may become your intimate friend!
And no one will be granted such goodness
except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,
none but people of the greatest good fortune.
Qur'an 41:34-35

060.008
Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

060.009
Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

ok ok i'll stop

Islam is not a terrorist but a lot of people who believe in Islam are.

Watch the news more and see who is blowing up innocent people including other Muslims around the world.

it really bothers me the hatred towards muslims on this site, which results purely from ignorance. i don't care about all of the bad things that muslims do. those people are extremists, and they only make up a very small portion of the muslim population. every religion has them. millions of muslims live their lives peacefully every day, but just because the news doesn't report all of the good things that muslims do, people who refuse to realize that that religion actually came from theirs decide to be arrogant and ignorant and make huge and offensive generalizations about the religion. i'm not muslim, i'm not christian, i'm not anything, i'm just not racist either.

thank you for attempting to open the eyes of the ignorant, unfortunately, i have a feeling these people will use any argument just to discriminate against people who aren't like them

The terrorists are the ones that say it is about Islam. I don't hear anyone in Islam saying much about it so I believe them. Hundreds of thousands show up for the average Hamas rally so to me it looks like they really do have the popular support.
