So for a few months now about every two weeks, I get this intense pain (one of the worst I've felt!) in my ribcage that wakes me up; it always happens during sleep. I can't take in a deep breath without the pain shooting throughout my ribs. The pain is so intense that I'm immobilized; I can't roll over on my side or even move an inch. I always wake up my fiance with my "ow ow ow ow"s and it's getting pretty annoying. I've been to a doctor, not my primary, and he said that he's not sure what's causing it... I have no pain when I touch the spot, so maybe its visceral (on the organs, not skeletal muscle). Not too sure... Anyone ever experience this and get somewhat of an answer from a doctor?

Thanks :D

Sounds like you need to change Doctors, that one doesnt know what the heck he is doing!..Honestly!

Well since we are not there to examine you, and push here and there, we have to go only by what you are saying, which will result in a very NON accurate diagnosis, so seriously you need to see a doctor.

Could it be stones in your gall bladder, kidneys, spleen.. your gall bladder could be infected, and swollen or twisted. YOU might need surgery, and you can die from this, if it is actually an infection. I say you go to a real DOCTOR, and get it fixed fast!

try searching for yahoo medical symtoms, or something of the sort, on search bar.. it will take you to websites that you give them the symtoms and it gives you more or less a cause.

BEST BET, SEE A different DOCTOR, fast!

Pain that wakes you up in your sleep is something worth looking further into than just your doctor saying he's not sure what it is. Go to your primary doctor and say that it's been going on for a while now. You should at least get an X-Ray done. It could also be something as simple as a spring sticking through your mattress into your ribs and compressing a nerve. Check that out first. Good Luck!
