This is a question, mostly to Christians, Jews and Muslims. Why is premarital sex wrong?
I've been trying to wrap my brain around this question. The two ways that these Abrahamic faiths really differ from other faith's morals are with outsiders and sex.

With outsiders, in most religions, it's fine. But with the Abrahamics, you -must- convert them. There have been no Holy Wars outside of the Abrahamic ones. When the Greeks met the Egyptians, they compared their Gods to their own, and came up with a few syncretism cults.

Now, I can wrap my brain around conquering for a one true god. It's harder to control your area when there are a bunch of different faiths (but we seem to be doing pretty well, all things concidered).
But sex being bad is hard for me to understand.

Is there any logical reason for sex to be bad? Not just because the Torah/Bible/Koran/God says so. There has to be a reason why there's these extra laws about sex.

The comments about my screen name aren't needed. Jezebel made it alright for current Ba'alites to worship Ba'al and other Pheonician Gods in Israel.
There are no accounts of Jezebel being unfaithful to her husband.

Cleanliness and primitive contraceptives are common among the Ancient religions, so, STDs might've not been such a problem as they are today.

it's all emotional.

you're 15, you have a boyfriend, you have sex with each other. after a while you break up.

you're 16, you have a boyfriend and you have sex and you break up.

you're 17...
you're 18...
you're 19...

you're 25, you get married, but you can't stay with your husband forever cause you are used to change your mate every once in a while, so you both divorce after a while, and a family life is destroyed so a kid will not be raised by both parents.

now for the male, he's used to have sex with girls from different ethnics since he was 15-16. he's been with girls with different bodies. maybe your body won't be as good as the body of one of his old girlfriends so he'll be tired of you after a while. and he'll leave you.

also, maybe when you're 15-16 and have sex with someone because you two love each other(actually 15 year olds don't even know what love is) you might get pregnant.

if you have different mates in your life you there's a higher chance of you getting STD's. or maybe later when you marry some one, a jealous ex-boyfriend will show up and cause trouble.

usually you will always like the first person that you have sex with(the one who takes your virginity) and you'll always remember him, why shouldn't that person be your spouse and someone that you know that will stick to you?

sh*t, did i just type that much...... anyways, there are tons of reasons that you can find in different religious or medical sites on the net. good luck

Sex is only wrong when it is outside of marriage which is called fornication. Read Acts 15:20,29, Colossians 3:5, 1 Corinthians 5:9-11, Ephesians 5:3, I Corinthians 6:18. It is important to realize that God condemns fornication. 1 Corinthians 6 :9,10 and Hebrews 13:4. Because every other person is doing it doesn't make it right. It is not a burden to follow God's law they are there for our good who better than the Creator to tell us what to do?

Look around and see what fornication has caused. Unwanted pregnancies, abortion, sexual transmitted diseases,a guilty conscience. The feeling of guilt leads to all kinds of illnesses both mental and physical such as stress, and low self esteem or self worth.

How evident the wisdom of God’s Word! When you reject worldly thinking based on selfish desire and bring your thinking into harmony with God's counsel, your heart is greatly strengthened in right desires. Instead of fleeting pleasures of sexual immorality, you enjoy a clean conscience and enduring peace of mind.

While the government of US has sanctioned the care for unwed mothers, single mothers, abandoned children, teenage pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, no one can deny the devastting results of irresponsible behaviour. Sex is never considered bad but in the olden times, women are considered low already in many aspects. It was an unwritten tradition among tribes that a man in every tribe should bring a woman from other tribe to marry as someone they can be proud of and that primarily includes virginity of a woman. Since that marriage at that time are prearranged between families or tribes, they do not have the present generation of "loose morals" ( that is how they look at people who engage in sexual act outside marriage)so they have to ban such activities. Now, why is your question? Go to my first sentences again for the result of many sexual activities before marriage.

2 problems of premarital sex:
1. First, soul-ties. God created sex not just for procreating but relationship and bonding. When you have sex with another person, you create a soul tie with that person. When you have sex with another person, you create a soul tie with that person. Now, if this isn't rectified, you create soul ties with EVERYONE that person had sex with previously AND all those you had previously.
2. The more times you have sex with another, it drives the risk of STD. STD wasn't started when just a man and woman where having sex with no other partners. STD's were created by spreading fluids between partners, from one to another. This is not restricted to either gender.
3. Just imagine, as a woman, getting pregnant from several different men. Imagine these kids all not sharing the same father, one is a drunk, another is a murderer, another is a millionaire. Which father would they prefer? Children need to be raised with ONE mother and ONE father for stability.
I love my wife and children. My kids get the benefit of knowing their parents are there every day. And I know that making love with my wife will not have any STD's, since we are the only partners we will know until death do us part.
That is satisfactory and complete happiness.

The basic argument is that the function of the sex organs is reproduction. Since two people of the same sex cannot reproduce, the argument concludes that the sex organs are being misused. This is a human conceptualization of the issue based on a certain type of rationality and this concept has been codified into many world religions and cultures. However, homosexual behavior IS sometimes seen in other creatures. Sometimes it is used as a mating strategy (ie. a male presents himself to other males...they fall for it and end up "spent" leaving the first male still "ready to go with the ladies". However, other creatures (bonobos) have all kinds of social sex between same sexes, within families, and it is used as simple greeting/comfort/pleasure....whatever. So, IF homosexual behavrior IS noted among other creatures (who do NOT have the faculty of conceptualization in the same way as humans) one is left with the question, are, in fact, the organs being misused? If you subscribe to a religious or cultural doctrine that forbids homosexual behavior, you have to figure out if you can genuinely make peace with that. But for practical purposes, I think that a very important point of view is to consider whether or not you are exposing yourself to any danger in your sex life and/or is your behavior likely to harm someone else? I'm not gay, but like so many people who live in the real world it is hard for me to reconcile my experience of friends and relatives (who I know to be admirable, decent people) who really do seem to be "hard wired" to prefer same-sex relations with the formal expressions of my faith and cultural experience.

okay first off sex isn't bad God designed our body to have these feeling/desires however there's a proper way to go about it. think of it this way each time you have sex with someone outside of marriage you are taking some of them with you and in some way or another comparing it to your next mate and so on. God never intended for that which is why He only created Adam and Eve, one mate. think of your body as a temple (there should be an order of respect) and try not to defile it. Grant it this is hard to do without God's spirit.

sex with somone who is not your spouse has some serious consequences

first having sex with strangers, especially with hookers can lead to the infection of the HIV

2ndly how many families start breaking-up because the father or the mother cheated, what about the children

what about the men who follow their instincts & behave wildly with women whom they see beatiful women but then when these women get pregnant, they run away from responsibilities, the result :More single moms who can't raise children by themselves which may lead to bad raising of children who may become criminals for being badly raised

that is as far as I got so far concerning the social aspect & the Medical aspect but I'm sure there is other dangers which can only be avoided by not commiting adultrey which show us the wisdom of god behind the banning of sex outside marraige

I can't believe this question is being asked. There is more to sex than just a physical act, at least there should be. It should include love, feelings and commitment. It should not be done by children who are not physically or emotionally ready. There are dangers and consequences to sex, such as STDs, unwanted pregnancies, HIV, rape, perversion, insecurity, looking for love in all the wrong places, etc. It was designed by our Father for two consenting, loving adults for procreating. Two people becoming one. Enjoy it in marriage!

May God Bless you.

There are only about four basic reasons why sex is wrong:

1. Children who are not mature enough can try it.

2. People can do it without proper precautions and can make unwanted babies and get unwanted diseases.

3. Some people can force other people against their will to engage in sex.

4. Some people make deals (like marriage) and then cheat on them hurting spouses and children in the process.

Other than that, sex between consenting, informed, thoughtful adults is never wrong.

Sex is one of the main ways of STDs, and although they didn't really understand that bodily fluid exchanges were why, they understood that it could get you sick if you are with the wrong person.

Sex is also the only way that they could procreate, and using a religion to control sex means that you control how children are being made, and since you control that you can control with much greater ease what they will be taught as they grow older, and influence to a great degree how they will act and what they believe.

Remember that sex is only considered bad outside of marriage, once you are married you are supposed to breed like rabbits.
