Only guys who are @$$holes would tell their girlfriends that valentines day is a waste of money, pretty much your saying to her, you are not worth my money and your a waste. I understand the commercialism and all that crap and i see your point of view.. but it's you and your girls day to do something special and spice up your relationship, do something that doesn't cost money, go ice skating on a pond (solid..lol) or if it's not winter like where you are go kite flying or something like that. then make her a romantic candle lit dinner whatever is her fav,
Hand make her a card. and make her a present.. make maybe a pillow (heart shaped, sewing isn't hard i promise) i learned to knit for my bf's valentines day present. or you could write her a poem or something origional. If money is the problem here is the answer to your question.. you don't need money here.. you can use anything i n the house to do these activities i mentioned. I bet she'll like them a lot more because you put time and thought into making everything and not just going to the jewelry store to buy her a braclet or ring. thus avoiding and not giving into the commercialism.
You celebrate your own way. And if you don't at least try to make her have a good valentines day she will feel unloved and like you don't care. YOu don't want that.
hint: You could say your not celebrating at all and make her think your not doing it at all(unless you think that she'll freak out and break up w you... which is pretty lame i might add) then surprise her on the day and end the night with some sweet romantic s3x i promise you will like this valentines day if you do this trust me! Im a girl!

Do you care more about your feelings of commercialism or her. She really wants it, can't you you just do something sweet for her anyway on Valentine's day? Is it really going to gall you that much? If you don't want to buy into the commercialism...don't buy a card, don't buy her flowers, don't buy fancy jewelry. Make her a nice dinner or picnic instead. Give her a massage. Write her a poem . You can still celebrate the spirit of Valentine's day and hold onto this belief of not spending money supporting it.

You can still celebrate. Take her on a date, whatever. Just make it a regular date. Let's say you take her to a movie, you don't need to buy her flowers, just do what you usually do. Also, why not spend a couple of dollars on a card? It will keep her happy, and you won't be spending a fortune on chocolates or flowers. You can just make this a regular date day.
HOPE I HELPED

you dont have to go out and buy her stuff or spend any money. Make her dinner and just make her feel a lil bit more special than any typical day. Just be a little bit more thoughtful. Like suprising her in the morning with breakfast or write her a poem and blast it over a loud speaker. BE CREATIVE.

If you really love her just get her something small...and a card, but a card that actually says something meaningful. It's obviously an important day to her and if she knows how much you hate it and you still get her something small (and inexpensive since you don't wanna spend any $) then she should appreciate it...if she doesn't than she's just a b**** and I'm sorry you wasted your time and $.

Do something nice that shows you care. In your case, you have to do something above and beyond or it will be interpreted that your love has no meaning because you show no effort. Do it in style, you've only got a few days left. You gotta know you can't mess with "V" Day.

Do what my fiance is going to do:
Marry me on Valentine's Day. This way, it's our anniversary and not strickly Valentine's Day anymore.
Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak...

Dump her and date a woman who's not so concerned about Valentines Day.

Any girl would think of Valentine's Day as an important day. You wouldn't understand....
Just buy her something and make her happy, instead of disappointing her!
