My 4 year old black male Giant Schanuzer bred with my Bulldog a few months ago. I only realised the enlarged nipples, milk from nipples in my white and brindle female bulldog a few days ago so I took her to the vet and they did a scan on her and she has 3 puppies. I never got them fixed because i didnt think they would do it. i always kept them seperateed when she was on heat but i was away for a few days and she was on heat when i was away and my friend (who was taking care of them) didnt tel me. My bulldog is only 3 years old so i didnt know if there would be any complications. it has been around 6 weeks from when they bred - is it to late to abort? i also have a 7 months old female red dachshund who went on heat at around that time but she isnt showing any signs of pregg. is there a chance she is preg? she has lost her appetite and is getting fatter by the day. i kno she is too young for pups and i planned on spaying her next month when i had a bit more money.

i cant deal with more pups. just so u know, the male giant schnauzer was my sisters and she gae him to me when she moved into a apartment thats why i ahve such a big dog with 2 little dogs. i never knew such a big dog could "DO IT" with 2 small dogs.

If my Dachshund (milly) is preg as well, what complications are involved in birth with a small dog and a big dog? I know that Brittany is preg so what can I do for her? should I arrange a c-section with the vet just incase something goes wrong? i dont want to lose brittany ot milly because of Justin's urge to mate with them.

Should I get an x-ray done on Milly to check if she is really preg? it has been almost 7 weeks since brittany got preg so i am assuming that milly got preg as well because she was JUST FINISHING her heat cycle the day i left for my holiday.

i am not ready for even 3 puppies from brittany so if Milly is preg as well, i have no idea how to deal with it. i am not financially stable to look after an extra 3+ puppies. i am fine with myself, my child and my 3 current dogs. i am 26 living alone with an 11 month old baby boy so i am not really prepared to get up every few hoursd to check on crying puppies.

I need to know what to do!!!

gessica: i don't care how much i sell them for, i need to get past birth and whelping first. i will probably sell them for $75 if i can. who would possibly want Bulldog x Giant Schnauzer or Dachshund x Giant Schnauzer puppies?

i bought all my dogs from good breeders with no record of genetic problems so im sure thats a good thing. i am not too sure where my sister got her dog from so i dont know of his records.

CHETCO:

Bulldog: My Bulldog Brittany is def. pregnant with 3 puppies.
Dachshund: Milly is showing pregnancy signs. Bigger belly, loss of appetite, slightly larger nipples.

LITTLELADY:

I don't need rude comments about what I did. I know that I should have spayed and neutered them but who would think such a MASSIVE DOG (approx 1 metre, 10 cm in height & approx. 65lb) could breed with a 30 cm high, 45lb Bulldog and a 30cm high, 20lb Dachshund?!?!

I will not abort but how do I prepare for these puppies? I know that Bulldogs have major birth complications so I am about to call my vet and arrange a planned c-section for brittany if that's what is needed. I am also going to arrange for Milly to get an x-ray to see if she is pregnant and how many puppies she has.

I just got home from the vet now. Justin is going to get neutered this Friday for $180 and I arranged a c-section for Brittany. The neuter cost $200 and the c-section cost me $900 to plan it. Justin is going to stay over at the vet office under obsevation for the night.

I got Milly x-rayed at the same time which cost me $70!! She is pregnant with 4 puppies so the vet told me it would be best to arrange a c-section for her as well as she will have a lot of trouble giving birth to such large puppies. I didn't plan one but I suppose I better. If I don't do it, and it turns out that she needs one, I'll be up for $1400 for an emergency. I will be going back on Friday so I will have to arrange a c-section for Milly then as well. I had to borrow $1000 from my mom with the arrangment that I would pay it back in installments of $50 per week.

If she is enlarged in her tummy, your little one is likely to be pregnant.
As you are about to have bullschnauzes, you need to be getting ready. As gestation is 9 weeks, she is too far along for a safe abortion. She will likely just need to be spayed..If you choose not to spay, she will need to be scanned again at about 55 days, as close as you can figure, to determine if she will need a C-section..(about $1200)
If the doxie is also pregnant by the schnauzer, she may be in for a hard delivery, as well! (C-section should run a little less)
the cheapest way, by far, is to have them spayed, and soon..You need to talk to your vet about this..
Try for the Care Credit card.. It is no-interest card to be used for veterinary care, and it allows up to 18 months to repay.. all of the vets in my state accept this card..
You can apply on-line, and know within minutes if you have been approved.. All it requires is a steady source of income.

The duration of pregnancy in dogs is about 63 days (9 weeks). It is possible to do a surgical abortion at this point but it will be a more involved (and expensive) surgery than a regular spay. Most vets will not do this unless you agree to get her spayed at the same time. Bulldogs, because of their wide heads and narrow hips, are very prone to birth problems and you're likely to need a C-section even if you want to keep the puppies. So either way, the bulldog is almost certain to need surgery; start talking to your vet now.

The dachshund may not be as far along, but puppy skeletons are usually visible on X-rays by 5 weeks; you might want to get her checked just to be sure. If she's pregnant the puppies will probably be bigger than is really healthy for her, and if she's chubby to start with that just complicates things. If she's not knocked up, you'll want to get her spayed - oh, about now, but you've got about 3-4 months before her next expected heat cycle.

And for G-ds sake get the big guy fixed too, before he breaks loose and bones someone else's dog. Dogs are like drunk people; when they're horny they'll hook up with anything. Even breeds of widely differing size will work to make the mating work out, and dogs have been known to have sex through a chain link fence.

You need to ask your Vet about aborting the puppies and have your Dachshund checked. It may be too late. The Vet will know what is best for the health of your dog. Again, check with the expert on this subject. Good luck!!

lol serves you right for not neutering the male and spraying the female....looks like you may have to start looking for homes for the puppies or no-kill shelters. you can't abort a dog, and the puppies will have to be with the mother 8 weeks before you can give them away.......take this as a lesson and get your dogs fixed.. congrats you just added more unwanted dogs into the shelters

Abortion is really mean. I know that you really don't want the pups, but the responsible thing is to let your dogs have the puppies, take care of the pups until there old enough and then sell them. Who knows you might make good money off those pups.
