Since I was 15 and I took weightlifting my wrist has been hurting. It only hurts a couple times a month but lasts for about a week, sometimes two. Its gotten to the point where when I get the pain I cant even write or do push ups or anything, I cant even throw a football. My doctor cant figure out what is wrong and i even went to a sepcialist. I'm now seventeen and i've tried taking twice the dose of aleve everyday and msm pills but nothing works what should I do?

Give it a rest! Injured ligaments take months to heal. Working through pain is not always the smartest thing to do and you could have set up some early arthritis that is aggravated by weather changes or food allergy. I have some achy joints that act up on cloudy days and from eating artificial sweeteners. Keep a log of food, activity, weather etc. to see if you can find a trigger for the pain. Otherwise give your wrist a real rest and avoid all activities that hurt. You are 17 years old - how long do you want to be taking pain medications?

Sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. If your wrist hurts when you extend it, such as pick up a suitcase, turn doorknob, shake hands, etc., then you might have carpal tunnel. Do NOT put heat on it. Only ice/cold. Rest your wrist and maybe take some pain medicine, if that doesn't help see a doctor.

More times than not (by a large percentage) the cause is muscles. Have your doctor even though he is busy (you do it to because some are stubborn) read a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches you how to deal correctly with muscles, pain and referred pain.

you need an xray to rule out fracture, a nerve conduction study to rule out nerve damage. it may also be just tendinitis. watch the aleve it can cause an ulcer, ask for those tests and a stronger anti inflammatory
