An innkeeper, with some limitations, can pretty much decide who they want there or not, notwithstanding laws on the books. The reality is that all the innkeeper has to do is size you up, not like it, and ask you to leave. If you insist and the cops arrive, the innkeeper might make up some dumbass story about you causing a public nuisance. So you sort of can't win. Hell I used ot rent a hotel room by myself as a minor but I had an American Extress card and dressed well so it sort of didn't matter. They basically want your money! Also watch out for local rules re minors being out after dark, curfew stuff. Bottom line? If you dress conservative, have the money, don't look like a child, you will get a room. Hell my 14 year old cousin looks about 22.

Summation: The problem is not so much the laws ans getting past whoever is at the front desk. The more you look conservative with a good wallet and money/CCs and NOT checking in with a John, you should be okay.

Most don't want prostitutes or kids alone!!

The other thing you can do is have a parent call ahead. Give the CC and all.

Rebuttal to Golden: The fact that the contract may not be vaild does not stop the transaction from happening. That is faulty logic. Minors every second "enter" into contracts (try). It only means that A) the contract later becomes voidable after the fact IF there is a problem; or B) (unlikely) the innkeeper will think of that too and it will influence her upfront decision. The latter is unlikely because her concern is much more keeping the peace, getting paid, etc. In other words, most innkeepers will admit a mature 16 year old with an AmEx card traveling alone and refuse a 32 y.o. with cash who acts drunk and has a hooker!

Depends where you live. In England you can from the age of sixteen I believe. In America you have to be at least 18 I'm pretty sure, and have to have ID.

Hope that helped
