you do know that our planet has cycles it goes throught right?
like days and nights, summers and winters. cold ages and warm ages. the world is constantly changing
why do people seem to think we can make it so it stays the same. a constint routine, we cant, nature is in controll no matter what we do. and yes we our having a bad impact on the earth. it took more then a century of environmental neglect to give us the problems we're faced with today but its going to take time to undo the damage. many around the world, us included, have already begun, by cleaning up pollution. higher mandates on oil shipping containers. better air quality rules. more recycling and more eco friendly product. we're making a good start
yes more can be done. but give it time, yes more people need to get on the band wagon, but not everyone can afford a new cleaner car. in the end it boils down to money and those who dont have for the change to something cleaner and energy cheaper can invest into such things
i know when i have my own house i will invest in wind and solar power for my home, better on the environment and economy
but remeber it NOT just the US. europe is doing a good job but the problem and threat we face is china and india. with there economies Booming, does anyone think they will post restrictions that will hinder there $. no way. like i siad i comes down to money and these countries want to make as much as they can as quickly as they can. in 20 years these 2 countries will put out 3 times as much as the US. but still no as n=much as the us has over the last 150 yrs
and one last thing, about the cycles of nature. 12,000 yrs ago the earth had reached the apex (hieght) of the last ice age. sence then the earth has slowly warmed. in the 1820's Krakatoa exploded. a mini super volcanoe whos ash went all the way around the world making a mini ice age, putting great strain on field to make the crops, puttin great stres on the people of europe and being a main factor in cuasing the french revolution... the people were tired of the marnarch being feed while they starved, one reason the revolted
and if you hear from a scientists about the Permian Extinction Event. the worlds largest with 95% of all life wiped out 250 million yrs ago. wasnt cuased by an astroid like that whcih killed the dino's... it was cuased by what scientists call a Flood Basalt Eruption. basicly a crack in the earth miles long that spewed lava, and for centuries. the rise in temp cuased by the eruption also made another catastrophy that wipe out more and more creature, as the oceans heated. froozen methan at the ocan floor evaporated, methane is the mother of all green house gasses, the rise in methane in the atmosphere cuase the temp to go up round the world by 10*, dont sound like much but in the period of 10,000 yrs the world was the hottest it had ever been sence its formation 4.5 billion years ago
on the plus side, flood basalt is unlikely to ever happen again. and yet man is doing some amount of harm, if we dont PANIC, and go about this rationallly, lot and LOTs of people can come together and make good with commom sence
ps. dont listen to al gore, he got this paranoia going

There is one important detail in the global warming debate that has never been studied. The heat from the mantle of Earth is warming the ocean quite a bit but no one seems to know anything about how much the ocean is warmed by heat from within. This is a very important detail second only to the solar flux and far more important than any other detail and yet nothing is ever said about it. The people who make reports about global warming say it is not much and not at all important but I think the polar zone is greatly effected by changes in the heat that flows from the mantle into the Arctic Ocean. I'm convinced the heat ebbs and flows in the Arctic from the mantle and it is that heat that keeps Europe warmer than Alaska. As you know Alaska is more effected by the Pacific Ocean where the heat flux is quite different than in the Arrctic Ocean. Anyway, I hope something here will be of use to you in writing your paper and I hope you get a good grade on it.

It's pretty hard to argue against the existence of global warming. It's like trying to argue against the sky being blue. There are plenty of valid arguments against global warming being an important issue, though. One is that scientists don't really know how much the earth will warm. They also don't know exactly what the local effects of a warmer globe will be. People have adapted to changes in the environment before, so it's not going to mean the end of civilization. Another one is that if the earth were somehow warming anyway due to a natural event, we wouldn't feel the need to do anything about it. None of this 'carbon sequestering' mumbo jumbo, we'd just chalk it up to living in harmony with nature.

yeah, temperature cycles, the heat from cities that makes the heat by them go up (not much, but a little), the fact that they found CO2 doesn't really affect the temp...
go to the book "State of Fear" by michael crichton- it's fiction, but he uses real scientific studies o disprove global warming. Go to the bibliography, there are a TON of sources with scientific info about the global warming myth.

It's a scientific theory, not a fact. No one even knows for sure it it's happening and if it is, what is causing it. Some say the sun, others say cow flatulence. Make up your own theory.
It's actually snowing in parts of the world today for the first time in recorded history. What does that mean?

I can't argues against global warming. But I can answer, with references, most of the objections I've seen. They are volcanoes, solar variability, natural cycle, nature makes more CO2 than man, this is a liberal conspiracy. And that getting a little warmer is not so bad. Here goes.
Volcanoes emit a tiny fraction of what man produces. And the dust they throw up cancels most of that out.
"a far greater amount of CO2 is contributed to the atmosphere by human activities each year than by volcanic eruptions. Volcanoes contribute about 110 million tons/year, whereas other sources contribute about 10 billion tons/year"
http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/how_volcanoe...
The IPCC report considered the measured values of solar variation, and it's nowhere near enough to cause the warming. The total warming is 2.6 watts per meter squared. The solar increase is 0.12 watts per meter squared.
And the warming is far more rapid than any natural cycle could be.
http://www.ipcc.ch/spm2feb07.pdf...
Natural CO2 emissions may be more than man. But naturally produced CO2 is recycled by the "carbon cycle". [Google that] Man is messing that up by digging up carbon the natural cycle buried over millions of years, and burring it very fast. Here's the data. The little squiggles are the natural cycle doing its' thing. CO2 goes down in the summer when plants are active, and up in the winter when they're not. The huge increase is us, burning fossil fuels.

The scientific evidence is overwhelming, which is why these people, who are not liberals, think it's real. You may or may not respect all of them, but surely you respect some of them.
"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."
James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.
"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."
Russell E. Train, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford
"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona
"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."
President George Bush
And it's not just a little harmless warmer weather. It won't be a Hollywood style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

great question! there are some fools who think global warming does not exist! they seem to think it is a money making scam by the government or others to play onto peoples fears! there are some, also, like iran's leader, who say the holocaust did no happen either! denial is whatt that is called! people who say global does not exist have no case at all! the evidence is overwhelming that global warming is not only a threat to the enviornment, but that MAN!! HAS CAUSED IT, BY FOOLISHLY AND GREEDILY USING UP RESOURCES AND POLLUTING THE OZONE LAYER, FOR EXAMPLE! if i was to argue with you, i would tell you that global warming is a money making scam cooked up by people with fertile imaginations! or i would tell you that GOD! WILL REPLENSIH WHAT MAN HAS WASTED, SO THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! these are a few so-called arguments that a fool would use! it sounds like you are doing the old "POINT-COUNTERPOINT" ESSAY SO YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR OPPONENT! GOOD LUCK TO YOU IN DESTROYING THEIR ARGUMENTS! dandidonna@yahoo.com
