Neither one of the diagnoses would preclude you from having a baby but either alone is enough reason to have your pregancy followed closely by an obstetrician. Lupus can cause the baby to have an abnormal heart rhythm and this is usually noted as a slow rate at a term, or near term ultrasound. Again, this does not need to keep you from having a child but makes your pregnancy higher risk. Additionally, the medicines you are taking to keep symptoms under control can be problematic for your baby so make sure to discuss these with your obstetrician as well. Planning will be very important here; it would be best to sit down with your internist and obstetrician BEFORE you get pregnant.

Even if you COULD, the question should be asked " SHOULD I have..." Why would you want to possibly contribute to an already decimated gene pool? Not trying to be mean, but really...As much pain as having lupus and small (I'm assuming Bowel) Syndrome are for you, why would you inflict that possibility apon an unborn child? ADOPT! there are plenty of children that could use a parent.

I don't see why not. It does depend on the meds you're on and only a doctor should determine whether those would be safe for a growing baby. They may ask you to stop the meds which could proof difficult.

Lupus is genetic. Like knowingly passing on horribly painful sickle cell. If your into that, then go for it.

Are you a girl? If so, then yes. If not, you may need some help from one.
