You can download music for free, but doing so is illegal. The RIAA has filed thousands of lawsuits against people for doing this, and the average person pays a fine of around $10,000 to settle the case. Many of the files you download will be infected with viruses and trojans, as criminals know that other criminals are easy prey - what are you going to do, complain that you stole one thing and it turned out to be something else?
Stick with the legal music downloading site, like the iTunes store.

Yes you can DL music for "free". But most likely illegal file sharing is what you are doing when you use Limewire. *** BEWARE*** most of the software you acquire from the Limewire network is loaded with trojans, worms and viruses !!!!!

Limewire is bogged down with ads, fake files and porn. If you are into music and want to start downloading, I suggest Shareaza (shareaza.com) its a completely free software that handles P2P connections over a lot of networks. It also handles BitTorrent.
You are going to have to configure your router for optimal performance. i suggest that you write down your routers make and model and head over to http://portforward.com/ to find out how to make your shareaza work the fastest.
Shareaza also has a great forum linked on their site to help you get your router configured.

Yeah, you can get free music. No costs at all. Just got their website : www.limewire.com and download the basic for free. There's another, supposedly better version, on their site but you have to pay for it.
