Your a sicko if you realty hit 8 cats. I can conclude without knowing they all weren't accidents. I live in the middle of nowhere. I've been driving for 17 years. I've hit one deer, one cat, two squirrels, one possum and maybe five birds. You killed 'em on purpose. My guess is you'll be in jail for murder or attempted murder of a human at some point.

always assuming that you have not actually got 8 cats in one fell swoop.if so MG do did you manage that..but if this is a UK question then nope you can NOT be done in any way as cats are considered feral and as such you dont even have to stop and report it, I am led to believe that there is much the same law here in the USA...........cats are feral and as such unless you mount the pavement and AIM there is squat that can be done [leastwise as per UK law]

yes you can be charged with animal cruelty. i heard of a case of a man throwing a puppy against a wall and killing it. he received 10 year in prison. its kind of hard to convince anyone even with half a brain all 8 were an accident.if you really did this you need help. you know most serial killers started off killing and torturing animals

Any act endangering life is an offence if it is intentional and deliberate. For the welfare of the society it is better to be very positive and think in terms of inspiring mind not to harm life than in the context of proof of harmful acts.

You should be tried and convicted for: Animal endangerment, reckless driving, reckless endangerment. You ran over 8 cats and need to learn a lesson. What if instead of a cat it was someone you love and they died.

Yes, you can and they don't have to prove that they were accidents. All they have to do is prove you did hit them with you vehicle and were reckless in doing so.
