There's lots to do! Don't let people tell you there isn't.

The beach is great of course, as long as it's warm (though kids can even enjoy it when it's not). If you go to Bournemouth Pier then there are also lots of amusements and in the summer things like rock-climbing walls and virtual similator things. There's amusements to. Though you can also just grab a bucket and spade and go to one of the other beaches if you don't want to spend to much money. Most kids will love it if they don't get to see the beach much.

Then, you can go to the gardens in town. Again in summer they had those trampoline things for kids, but there's also crazy golf all year round that's not to expensive and can be fun (it can even be a laugh in bad weather, if it's open).

In the town centre there's also lots of shops for the adults, and in the centre they have other things for kids usually, different things, it varies.

Tower Park in Poole is good for a rainy day. They have Splashdown which is a water park type place, indoors, that has lots of slides and stuff. There is also bowling and cinema's there to. It does all cost money though.

Things for free are go to the forest and have a picnic or mess around in the rivers there.

Poole Pottery is closed now I believe, just in case you liked the idea from the answer above. There's been lots of contraversy about that before christmas, but i believe it's ended up still closed.

In Poole you can go catching crabs, which is a fun activity for boys especially. And is cheap as long as you've got a bucket and can buy one of the crab catching things. I forget what they're called but you'll get one in a shop near the docks in Poole.

Littledown centre has swimming and a couple of slides, it's like a leisure cente. And it's super near to Castlepoint which is a our shopping centre (the car-parks sorta falling down but don't let that worry you, we don't!) which the boy won't like really but can be good for anyone who likes to shop.

Um, I'm out of ideas now, but it's not a bad place to go for things to do, I don't think. I live here, and I'm always bored now but growing up I loved it, and I think if you don't live here it's all much more exciting! Cause you haven't done it all. I took my young cousins from Milton Keynes to the beach and they loved it, would spend ages there because they'd never been before.

Do some research and you'll find some more things i'm sure! Hope you have a good trip!

He wrote Jekyll and Hyde even as staying in Bournemouth for his well being as he suffered from TB.

Not a lot. It is the sort of resort where you go for a rest. If you want to entertain a 12 year old, then go to Butlins at Bognor - which is about 30 miles east along the coast.
