I want to have another tattoo, but this time on my forearm. I want it in a spot where I have quite a bit of hair. Would it look bad if I had hair sticking out of it? Does hair growth damage the tattoo in some way?

It's not A LOT of hair. So does the hair stop growing on the tattoo?

The best scenario is that there will be no hair to block the view of the tattoo. Certainly hair will not hurt it.

Shaving it regularly would not be something you would want to do, I imagine. Why not stop by a busy tattoo studio and see if any of the artists or patrons have a similar amount of hair covering their arm tattoo so you can have a visual to make this decision for yourself?

Many our our hairy clients have the underside of their forearm tattooed.

Hair growth will not damage the tattoo but it will hide it. Tattooing does usually change the pattern and amount of hair in a given area. I have a tattoo on my leg that I never have to shave anymore. Just realize that you will probably have to shave or wax that area in order for the tattoo to look its best.

I love tattoos, but lots of hair on top of them looks a little gross. And no, hair growth won't damage the tattoo.

ok, too much hair, you can't see the tat. no brainer. the hair will not damage the tat unless you get an ingrown hair and it causes a blank spot or scar. shaving regularly will not hurt it either but then you have to shave both your arms. stubble looks kinda funny too. check out deviantart.com and search tattoos. see what other people look like with sleeves and arm hair.

You could always keep shaving the area. I don't think hair growth damages it but it might look a little strange with hair coming out of it.

the hair will not stop growing where the tattoo is and i personally think it looks better when there is no hair on a tattoo. all you have to do is shave your arm. my husband has a tattoo that covers his calf and when he is taking pictures of it or showing it he shaves it. same with his chest. it won't damage the tattoo tho.

Ink is under the skin so hair wouldn't damage it. It would look weird so I would shave the area

You could use a more drastic method than shaving and waxing, take the hair off with laser treatment which will make them disappear forever!
