Being a single Mom is so hard. I'm 29 and I'm about to become a single Mom... I'm terrified. I couldn't imagine being 17 and having to worry about all these things.
Stay strong.

Honestly you can find alot of jobs that don't require you to have a high school diploma.. especially if they know you are still in school. Some states you can put in a request for the govt to pay for your childs care. My sister in law has the state paying for her child's care b/c she doesn't make enough... you should look into that. That way you can get a job and not have to worry about paying for daycare. I don't think day cares will hire you though b/c you are 17 and don't have the right certifications... i did work for a day care and you have to do certifications and have a high school diploma to work there... well in my state you did. goodluck and I hope you do find out about the state paying for your son's daycare...

In the state of ct they have child care assistance; i'm not sure if they have that where you live. But try looking up 211 infoline on the internet for resources to help you.
Maybe you can even get a job At a daycare and your child can go there also. I know it's hard, but there is help out there.
Stay focused on your goals no matter what even though it gets discouraging.
Also, you can call your local social srvices center and ask for suggestions.

I live in Illinois and I know that if your a low income parent and you go to the welfare office they will pay someone to watch your child while at school or/and at work. When I had my daughter at 16 we actually had a daycare in school. Sometimes they can even help you find jobs. And once you graduate they will pay for most if no all of your college if that's what you want.

you really need to get your GED. i was 17 with my first and that's what i had to do. most places require a GED or high school diploma to even be considered for employment.
i've been a preschool teacher for years. none of the schools i've worked for offered free childcare for staff babies. i doubt you'll find one that will. your child is still going to cost the school money to take care of so they are going to have to charge you something. you should definitely check into state assisted child care though. i live in florida and the state pays a big portion of child care costs to those parents who cannot afford it. check with your states department of children and families...
good luck to you and your son!

Well first of all you know that a lot of people are going to give you lots of rude comments when they read this questions, fortunately I am not one of them...now this is my advice...you mentioned that you are in State custody im assuming like that is some type of Child Services?...if it is they should be able to provide information and resources as to where to go and how to get the help you need to continue with your education, get a job and provide child care for your baby...if not contact the Child Services in your area..I am sure they are more able to provide you with all the help to get you started...and for what is worth I am happy that you chose life and now make the best of it for you and your baby!! never give up motherhood is a rollercoaster enjoy the ride! ;-) good luck

the person who said to work at a daycare is smart :-)
i don't know about where you live, but there are schools for pregnant girls and teenage mothers where you attend school, and there is a free day care for your baby while you're in class. not only do you learn average school stuff but you also have parenting classes which i imagine would help. best wishes!
