I recently got 4 cavities filled on one side of my mouth (Dec 28) and my mouth was a little sore for about 2 weeks, and it's still a teensy bit cold sensitive. I have a sensitive mouth anyways, so I wasn't too worried about it. I just want to know if there's anyone else out there like me.

absolutely, i have extremely sensitive teeth, i stopped eating ice cream altogether

then i got a cavity filled, and i have the same problem...it is a bit more sensitive than the rest of my teeth

i asked my dentist, and im afraid he said its rather permanant. there are procedures to go through to thicken your enamel, he said, but if you dont, that spot will be a bit more sensitive than the rest. dont worry, youll get used to it!

Sometimes it takes up to a month for teeth to settle down after being worked on. Just having a filling done can put a tooth into pulpitis for awhile. If it's just cold sensitive try not to let cold things stay on the teeth. Don't do anything to over stimulate the tooth.

If your bite doesn't feel quite right when you close your teeth together or chew, then you may need an adjustment. This too can cause sensitivity and left unadjusted it can cause damage to the nerve of the tooth. Leading you into having to have a root canal therapy procedure on the tooth. You can't wear the fillings down once they've set, they have to be adjusted with a hand piece.

So expect some sensitivity for a few days to weeks, not uncommon at all. But do check on your bite if it feels different to you that it did prior to the fillings. If the sensitivity continues you might want to try using Sensodyne Toothpaste, it takes about two weeks to feel the results of it working, but it does help. Hope I've been of some help and good luck.
