Should it be right to let a 13 year old hear bad words he already knows?

If you were my child, the answer is no, you are not listening to that kind of music. I don't care what you hear out on the street...well, I do care but I can't do anything about that.

But while you're in my care and living in my house, you won't dirty your mind with music, books, and movies that portray filth.

Let him listen to soft rap when you are around!(for instance in the car). Then let him know that just because its in the song, doesn't give him the right for him to repeat them! and if you catch him or you get a complain from somebody else there will be consequences. Make him feel that you are OK with certain kind of music and its best that you know what he is listening. This works for me and my 15 and 12 year old boys.

Depends. I wouldn't though because I don't approve of my kids saying that in my house. I don't use it and they can't use it.
Now if your a family uses a few words then fine. Also if this is a cd you can reburn it and take those songs out.

But the main question is how responsable is your child? Does he/she understand that you don't aprove of these words and it will not NOT be allowed around you and in your house. (The child saying the words.) If the child can understand that then I say okay cause like F$U$C$K or stuff their friends are probbly using them. But words like B%I%T%C%H is not okay at all.

So what am I saying? Look into your heart. Your the parent and know your child the best.

I remember as a teen that if my parents did not want me to do something I would want to do it even more so. I would suggest that you do not fight your teen with listening to the music because they will just do it behind your back. Instead you can try a couple options such as if you have a fairly mature 13yo you can explain your reasons but give pro and cons. Or you can try to limit as much as you can such as in the car you will not listen to it but the teen can with his/her own head phones.

The things my parents didn't like or didn't want to teach me or talk with me at home -- I learned out with my friends.
He will listen to all that on the outside anyway. It doesn't mean he will start to swear at you, remember what you did when you were a teenager.

What goes around comes around.

Enjoy your children!

I beleive they hear far more worse at school so listening to that type of music would be like bringing home the school environment.

yeah, this world is already messed up,,, it makes no diffrence he probably hears more bad words in school and his friends or other people, even more then in the cd.. but just tell him to listen to it, but tell him its not cool, and not to say it, because it stupid low class, and shows no respect, but he is gonna hear it one day

Why don't you try to make an educational experience by talking about the song with him? Like what the artist is thinking and trying to convey to his/her audience.
