My daughter is almost 6 years old and is having back pain. Her back has been hurting for about a week and I have a doctor's appointment for her on Friday. Her dad has a deteriorating spinal disease that runs in his family and causes severe back pain. He said that this disease does not show up until you are in your 30's or 40's. I need to know some opinions about what this could be. I'm really nervous about what the doctor will say Friday.

Lady Blue, stop right now. You know it could be a million things. It may be a simple as a pulled muscle. I am a mom too. Two boys so I know its not going to be easy to get to Friday. Why don't you give her a bath and a gentle back rub. That way you feel like your doing something. Be prepared for a test or 2 to determine what is going on. Which you will have to wait another week to get the results. While you are giving her a back rub see where the pain is. Make notes to be able to ask questions at the doctors visit.
You don't want to forget anything. When her back started hurting, when it hurts the worst and what seems to make it feel better. Ask the doc about your husbands disease and see if it can be past down to your daughter. Try to keep busy Friday is not far off. Now go take care of the child and good luck Friday.

She could have just pulled a muscle, or more seriously have kidney problems. If the disease doesn't show up till that late its probably not that.

She could have a kidney infection and/or kidney stones and it may not have anything to do with the bones at all. If the pain gets too bad for her taker her to the ER.

it is probably just a small back ache she may have slept on it wrong or something because that disease has a long incubation period which is way to long for your daughters age
