There is much evidence that Catholic was the first Christian religion and all others (Christian) came from that church. I personally believe that to be true and agree with most Catholic teachings although I am not a Catholic myself. Must be a lot of truth to your statement because most anti-religion people go after the Catholic church as if it is the only Christian church.

Jesus said, "You are Peter and upon this rock I shall build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Peter was the first Pope. Peter passed on his responsibility to the next Pope and so on until Benedict the XVII, the present Pope. Maybe the Catholic Church is not the greatest religion but I think it is the one established by Christ. Protestants used to be Catholics until Henry the VIII and Martin Luther broke away and made their own churches. This caused the divisions. We pray for the unity among the Churches and the salvation of all men. We pray that all men will be saved so Catholics love all people regardless of their faith. If Catholics love all people then maybe that makes them good to a certain degree. Maybe not great but good enough I guess. I guess they try to be faithful to the Truth and that is also a good thing.

Although there are many beautiful things about the rituals and some parts of the theology of Roman Catholicism, the Roman Catholic Church was created by the Council of Nicea as an extension of the Roman Empire, whereby the "Holy Roman Empire" came into power. Throughout its history, the Roman Catholic Church has engaged in countless persecutions worldwide, even as late as the 20th Century with Pope Pius XI's concordat with the National Socialist Party of Germany, in hopes that the church's power in the world would be fully restored. The church only resisted the Nazis when the latter broke the terms of the Concordat. The church's power had been diminished over the years as more and more nations refused to accept its dogma, and prohibited the church's persecutions on mankind.

I have studied many theologies, so I am sorry to have to relate this to you in regard to Roman Catholicism. In my personal opinion, the only religion that has not engaged in persecution and warfare throughout history is the Buddhist religion, which teaches nothing but peace, love, kindness and compassion. Jesus taught the same things when he returned to Judea after his "missing years" that the Council of Nicea expunged from historic documentation in countries where the Roman Catholic Church had power and control.

I don't agree with many aspects of Catholicism - I don't believe you need to be baptized to be saved, nor do you need to go to confession before a priest, nor do you need to take communion, nor do you need to say the rosary. Jesus did all the work on the cross "For by grace are you saved, through faith, and not of works, lest any one should boast". The Pope if fallible. So no, Christianity, a true relationship with God Almighty through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, is the best and only way.

Roman Catholicism is one of many paths to God. Everyone must choose the path that they feel is best for them. Some do not choose at all. All religions on earth have merits and viewpoints which are valid.

Well, at the risk of being insulting...NO it isn't.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe in worshiping Mary, going to a Priest to have my sins forgiven, or holding the Pope in such high esteem that it almost seems like you worship him.

I do not believe formalism gets you closer to God, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as savior does.

It's through the Lamb of God, the Author and Finisher of our Faith, the Alpha and Omega, the Lion of Judah, the Rose of Sharon that our sins are forgiven. Not the Pope not a Priest and not Mary.

And quite possibly the apostate church mentioned in the Bible - the church that is married to the world.

Step out of your Catholic bubble and visit with a few Bible based churches. Pray to God to open your eyes to the truth - no matter what it is - Catholic is right, or Catholic is wrong - humbly open your heart to receive truth and wisdom, and God will honor the sincerity of your heart, and give it to you.

If you get your "truth" from man alone, and not by the instruction and revelation of the Holy Spirit, and not by reading and studying the Word of God, then you are choosing to reject God's precious gift of Salvation.

Seek and ye shall find. Ask and it shall be given. Knock and the door shall be opened. God wants nothing more than to set a big bunch of Catholics free from their bondage.

If you are a saved Catholic, you will begin to see the trappings of the Church, and the lies and apostasies of the Church, because a person saved is a person whose eyes are opened to TRUTH.
