they are extremely friendly. my grandma owns three of them. it's nice to have one of them crawl in bed with you because they feel like a velvet hot water bottle.

I wanted a sphinx but they can take some looking after. depending on their coats, you will have to watch them at least once a week and prepare to wipe them down with wipes every 2-3 days and clean their ears. They will also get very cold easily so they are definately indoors only cats.
I decided to get a devon rex instead. My devon has very short fur and is practically bald on his tummy (like a jack russell). I bath him once to twice a month depending on what mischief he gets into. He doesn't have a very oily coat so I rarely use wipes on his ears etc.
Like sphinxs, devons come in a range of colours and can be a little cheaper too. mine is a smoke colour with black points. He's a very handsome little man (well I think so anyways).
My suggestion, consider a rex if you don't want all the hassle of a sphinx. Very siamese like in behaviour (including the talking)
goodluck!

It's true that they are not the cutest thing on the planet, but if you have one, they are very sweet like any other cat. It must be hard for them being UN-liked because of their look. Don't judge a book by it's cover!! Good luck, not saying this because you might get a sphinx!!!

My aunt had 2 of them and they were both very friendly and playful. I thought they were ugly, and I still do. The feeling of skin instead of fur is very strange and I never got used to it. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on one. My aunt paid $550 for each of them - I don't think I'd pay more than $200 for one. You (obviously) need to keep them warm during winter, even if they are inside cats.

Some are quite regal looking but I think some are ugly...poor kitties. To each their own. I would have one though if it meant saving their life or needing a good home. I am not going to turn them down for their looks. I would eventually think they were the cutest little muffin in the world hehe

Sphynx are nice cats.....very heavy built....and yes, very warm to the touch! They feel like they have peach fuzz. If you ever get one, you must be careful of them getting sunburned & also clean their ears regularly.
You can read about the breed here:

In a weird sort of way I think they're cute. And you don't have to think about cleaning up fur or hair balls. But I wouldn't have one. I prefer furry animals or ones with feathers, either or.

i think they would be kind of neat to own because you don't see them very often. petting skin instead of fur would be weird to get used to, though!
