Border Betrayal

A shocking turn in the case of the two former Border Patrol agents after an official from the Department of Homeland Security says the department lied to Congress about the agents admitting guilt in the case. No guilt was ever admitted by either agent.

Why do you think DHS lied?
What are your thoughts on their lying ?

Dear Katzulove, I have several thoughts about the DHS. First Chertoff [sp.] is a bloody idiot and we are in a downward spiral and we are going to end up at the feet of mexicano's and middle eastern terrorist. With every day that passes by our government gives the criminals more ways to beat us and they laugh at Americans for sitting back and letting it happen. Please tell me I am not in the minority when it comes to getting illegals out of our country no matter what the nationality of said person. This situation with the two beautiful agents is a sin if there ever was one. I'm sure the head of HDS did'nt even read a word about this case and could of cared less, or he did know what the case was about and it benifited him to be on the side of the drug smuggler, who know what favors and monies were exchanged for the verdict that was chosen. I've cried for these two good men! Alot of people are responsible for putting these men in prison, and I hope these people drive themselves mad with guilt and come back to you bad karma.
All Americans should fell guilty for letting this happen to us. They took two brave men and put them away for years, how many more brave men and women are they going to take before they take the U.S. completely. My government has taken away my idenity, I do'nt know what America means anymore, Wow, I should of gone to work today. See ya KATZ

Why did they lie?
Because they are corrupt government officials that think THEY are above the law. This entire case has stunk from day one. The prosecutions case was built on lies that anyone should have been able to see through. He was shot through both butt cheeks clearly indicating to any idiot that he was facing sideways just as the agents testified. A forensic expert also testified to that fact. DHS claimed that the bullet came from Ramos's gun when in fact that determination could not be made. Recently, on "America's Most Wanted" a juror stated that three of them wer coerced into voting guilty. The defense attorney knew this and presented this fact to the judge who REFUSED to allow a motion for mis-trial.
The prosecution claimed that the smuggler was trying to give himself up, he was close enough to knock Compean to the ground yet Compean could not hit him with 15 shots? I don't think that agent Compean is that bad of a shot. His story holds water. The prosecutions does not.
Ramos and Compean did not lie about anything. Supervisors were on the scene and knew shots had been fired. They could not report what they did nor know. How did they know they had hit the smuggler? he escaped to Mexico and DHS had to go to Mexico to bring him back.

I think this incident was used by our government to terrorize our border patrol agents into not doing their jobs. They just didn't expect such a public outcry and demand for proof. It didn't blow over while everyone went back to watching American Idol. I am pleased. We aren't as weak, stupid, and distracted as our government wanted to believe. Keep paying attention and raising hell folks!

I believe the people who participated in framing these border patrol agents should receive the same sentence as they did. Oh, yes, and they should personally have to pay back any settlement that the drug smuggler gets because of their actions.

(This is a copy of an answer I gave earlier)

Because in their little feeble minds they thought they had the power to do so. The person who originated this lie should be prosecuted not our Border Agents.

I think DHS is trying to discredit the U.S. Border Patrol. I'm glad the truth finally got out. Those two guys should not be imprisoned for protecting our country. They didn't do anything wrong!

Everyone needs to open their eyes and take a look at the bigger picture. Does anyone understand what I mean?

IMPEACH BUSH END THE CRAZINESS!

The real question is, how come the BP Agents have not been released yet? I would expect nothing less than a full pardon in view of the statement from DHS.

I read everything I could find on the incident. Their immediate supervisors were notified. Their was no cover up according to what I read.Sometimes when the brass get the story, they only get part of the story. The brass then proceeds to hang the officers. During the investigation the brass finds out they were wrong. But by this time the brass does not want to admit they were wrong. The cold-blooded brass does not want to look bad therefore they continue to hang the officers.

The GAO brought this to the attention of the director of DHS during an audit of the departments lackadaisacal accounting practices, now anyone even remotely involved is pointing fingers fast and furious in any direction that leads away from them. Once this farcical travesty of justice is completely brought to light, I think that this is going to be one of the few times that gravity does not control the plumbing.

Maybe because they are idiots? I think the only time that lying is ok is to spare someones feelings as long as it's not about something critical. Cases like this, no excuse.

I think people need to understand that people lie to cover up the truth for their conveniences... this is the Question of the day... and hopefully people will start looking into the answer for this question...

IMHO DHS was covering their collective poopers. (Did he say Pooper?) Expecting blame to be passed down, and people to blame DHS in general, they jumped the gun in an effort to focus blame on the officers. Seeing that the people weren't blaming, but supporting, said officers, they quickly recanted. It's good to know our govt. is always willing to stand behind their officers, eh?

People lie for all sorts of reasons, personal gain, selfishness, popularity ,protection, avoidance of guilt. Sometimes they do it for a friend but what kind of friendship is that based on lies, I wouldn't want it-I would want better for my friends than to lie for me. And what kind of friend would I be to encourage that in any way. I want the best people can be not the worst,
In this case I think they lied for for personal gain to themselves or friends so I believe.
