From an old vet,
The war on terrorism is a good thing. Getting those who are dedicated to the demise of the US prior to them being in this country is good. The way our government is split up is not a good thing. When the acting commanding officer of the military cannot get what he needs to do the job is a sad thing. We in this nation have not won a war since WWII. Korea-Police Action-UN = no win. Vietnam-Police Action-No war declared = no win. Somalia-police action-No win [ran with tails between our legs] Not the mil-Clinton's bunch of pols. Gulf war = No declared-just invasion to push Iraq out of Kuwait=Were wining however stopped prior to completion which created the next,{present} war Iraq. Won the war in three days, however are still there and in worse danger than ever.
When I heard we were invading Iraq, my heart fell. With my experiences during Vietnam, I knew there was no winning. Even with all of congress agreeing to the war. The only reason was the attacks of 9/11. I watched the senators and congressmen/women run out of the capitol building as a bunch of rats deserting a sinking ship. The only thing they were concerned with was their own A--es. They were afraid some terrorist would stick an air craft up their A--. When things were not going as they thought they would they returned to the Clinton way. hating the military, hating this country, hating the very American way.
Anyway, My opinion is, we need to either s--- or get off the pot. It is becoming more and more apparent, these politicians are not going to allow us to take care of business militarily, so we should get off the pot and bring our guys home. Also, we should remove any and all Islam believers from this nation. Any found should be put on a boat out of the country. If in this group, any are found to be terrorists, they should be beheaded and buried in a pigs skin.
Hardly humane, but if not done, we, the American citizen will be fighting in his/her back yards soon.
It is written in blood,

First off I take umbrage with noname. At one point he says bomb the heck out of them and then says we don't know who we are fighting! With urban and gorilla warfare bombing is out of the question as we would be killing those whom we are there to protect. Rather a mistaken thought don't you think?
Why are we there seems to bring some argument. The UN had people in Iraq searching and destroying WMD. They were thought to have destroyed 90 - 95 percent of these weapons when Bush decided to invade on the pretext that they were invading to find WMD. They showed pictures around pinpointing military truck movements which allegedly carried WMB. This became known as lie. On this pretext Iraq was invaded. We were told it would take only two weeks. Bush envisioned Iraqis lining the streets waving America flags. He got this wrong also.
He got us in a situation of which there seems no good way out. Not because we would lose but we owe the Iraqi people for all the hell they are going through and because moving out would leave Iraq open for a civil war genocide. This is what we do to countries and people when we act stupidly out self interest.

Well, most people by now are opposed to the war in Iraq. They see all the distruction and all our people dieing. They seem to forget that we wanted to go over there. I feel that we need to put a stop to the war. It has been going on too long with no improvment. I think that we need to bomb the hell out of them all or they will never learn. We are killing our own people, leaving our country empty of soldiers because they are over there and we are asking to be hit. I feel that we need to do something to stop what is going on but I don't think that we should give up. I am scarred that bush will be replaced with some baby who will take all of our troops out with out resolving the issue. Don't get me wrong, I don't want our troops to die. I think that the US is the strongest nation and that the UN would thank us for getting rid of the terrorist. Even if it took a little blood shed of the "innocent people" over there. We don't even know who we are fighting. We are going in there blind and just setting up our troops to be killed. We should send all our troops home and bomb them.

I am in the opinion that the US is spending too much money trying to change something that will probably go back to the way it was once we leave. I feel like it isn't our war. BUT, I still feel we should cheer on our soldiers and commend them as they are still fight for freedom for human beings. THey are following orders and staying true to their country. I do not agree with the individuals who have stepped away from there duties.

Eliminating Saddam was the right thing to do, but now we are stuck between two warring religious sects that have centuries of hatred. An impossible situation

As the song goes, "What good is war for? Absolutely nothing!"
When or when will we ever learn?
