And how far away from it is it?

There are two stations almost equally far from the station. Woodley Park / Zoo is on Connecticut Avenue, and it is about 1 and 1/4 miles away (though it is an uphill walk at times) and Tenleytown is about 1 and 1/2 miles away (though it is a downhill walk).

However, from Tenleytown you can take the 30-32-34-36 bus and be dropped off directly in front of the Cathedral, or from Woodley Park you can take the 90 or 92 bus and get off at the Cathedral as well. Just remember to get a 'bus transfer' when you enter the Metro system for a substantial discount on the bus when you depart the train station.

My recommendation: take the longer downhill walk. More things to see, more traffic. Woodley Park walks through neighborhoods and you might feel a little lost.

From looking at the directions on the Cathedral's website, take the bus from Dupont Circle Metro Station - a lot less walking than from either Metro Station.

Massachusetts Ave. goes around Dupont Circle and you see a lot of embassies and the Vice President's "residence" from the bus. Wisconsin Ave. is fairly level at Massachusetts Ave. Good luck and enjoy.

It does fit the classic use of the gargoyle on Gothic cathedrals. As to whether that classic use is appropriate...? Thanks! Nice little day brightener.
