because that would have made sense

My speculation since I was not there is that He wanted to make a final lesson to those who had followed Him. He knew that many wouldn't believe even if they did see so what was the point of showing them? Just like today, many people would have thought His appearance was a joke, someone else in disquise or some other nonsense. His disciples, though, would learn the real truth by His Resurrection and believe.

Because that would be proof that he was immortal. There are two normal human reactions to an immortal person, jealousy or favor-seeking. Jesus wouldn't be able to get anything done. People would be asking for resurrections for all their dead relatives, and resurrection contracts for themselves. And if he didn't cooperate (because it wouldn't be fair to the folks out of town), they'd get huffy. Can you imagine the resentment that would build after a couple hundred years of Jesus living while generation after generation died around him? He had to get out of there.

Do you think going up to heaven in a cloud would make any difference to those people? Jesus raised people from the dead. He healed thousands and they still crucified Him. He fed 5000 miraculously and they crucified Him. After His death, burial and resurrection at least 500 people saw Him and the bodies of dead people who were going to heaven with Him.

What would be the point. He clearly told the parable of the rich man and the beggar Lazarus where the Rich man was condemned for his treatment and after his death, wanted to return to warn others, but he was told he could not because though he returned from the dead, no one would believe him. Faith comes before a miracle, not after.

Think about it. If you'd just been strung up on a cross and survived it, you'd probably not be anxious to show yourself, rather you'd head for India, China, anywhere... and live the rest of your life on the lam!

Because If everyone had proof, they wouldnt be true Christians. Christians are supposed to believe in Jesus and live by FAITH and not by sight.

Luke 16:31
"But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.' "
