You say that this feeling just can't last
But I'm not like the love from your past
I'll love you forever; believe that, it's true
Because I'm in love with every part of you

My love will endure as sure as the sky above
You are my best friend and you are my love
I love you with every beat of my heart
From your side I can never part

I love being around you even for a while
I love the way you look; the way you smile
When you touch me my heart begins to melt
I've told you many times the way I've felt

Diamonds are beautiful and rare it's true
But they can not compare to the beauty of you
My love for you will last always and forever
Always my love till the twelfth of never

Believe me my darling when you hear me say
I'll love you forever; forever and a day
My love is strong, and true, without shame
Drawing my last breath I would speak your name

I met a woman when I was 20, and she a year younger. We dated for several years and somewhere in there I fell deeply in love with her, and committed myself to her completely.

She went off to school, 500 miles away, so we could not see each other. Six months later, I was hit by a car and died there, according to the official reports. Nearly two hours later I was sent to a hospital and there I returned to life, but my memory was badly damaged.

Somewhere in the fog that lasted many months, I married someone else, but have no recollection of the wedding.

My girlfriend went off and made another life for herself.

Time passed, my memory slowly returned almost to normal, and when I was divorced, I tried to find her. Failed. Her family had left and I could find no trace of anyone. I subsequently learned they had moved some distance away, but had since died.

Much more time passed. 35 years of it. After an extended hospital visit, I decided I would do whatever it took to find her. It took more than a year but success did come, and I learned that she had never married.

Today, we are both in our sixties, and very much in love.

I think I have just shown that love does last.
