Does he have a pet?

Mice are really good for boys. They're small, pretty durable and easy to replace.

My son is 6 and he adores his mouse. He plays with it for hours on end. The little critter even sits on his lap and watches movies with him.

It not only keep them entertained but it also teaches them responsibility and how to be gentle.

I have a 5 year old son and he loves making tents out of bed sheets. He also plays for hours with a box of plastic soldiers. Cinema, computer games, snap, colouring, making rockets, hide and seek, make a cake, walks through the woods with a football there are loads of things you can do. Just type in kids activities in goggle and loads of things will come up.

you can take him to the park where this is other children so he can know how things are and how to play with them..you can take him to a petting zoo where they grt to pet the smaller animals. You can put on a little friends party..even tho it is not a birthday. You can take him swimming. If you have any snow you can make a snow man for him or even take him on a snow board where you both sit down and have fun. You can get the biggest white piece of paper and get paints to where he can be in his underwear and just get messy in painting with his feet and hands and have a all clean dirty fun with paints.

Finger painting is great fun, playing football on the park (got to get a bit warmer for that one), just sit down and play with all his favourite toys, read him a book, bake cakes together, wash your car together there's loads of things

A lot of great advise.

I would add have him help you around the house. At 5 mine loves to help make bread, fold socks & towels, dust & sweep - all with me by his side. Not "slaving" him, but spending time together.

Children want to spend time with their parents, and it makes time for good conversation, too.

Jump up and down whilst gesticulating wildly then start baying like a wolf whilst reciting Homer's Odyssey. Works every time.

My pre-teen boys still LOVE to do this!

Game systems are great entertainers and you can find educational games!
